BPD Surgery and now facing gastrectomy?

I had BPD surgery in Sept 2002 and lost a total of 170 pounds.  I have been having problems for a while and went back in for testing.  They say that 5% of people who have wls or stomach surgery develop stomache paralysis.  I don't remember the medical term, however, your stomache stops contracting and your food basically just sits in your stomach,  It causes intense heartburn, and because your food moves slowly out of your stomach you throw up a lot.    The doctors have recomended that I have a gastrectomy.  Is there anyone out there that has had this happen to them or had the recommended gastrectomy?  If so, how has it impacted your life and what can I expect from the surgery?

If you had an original BPD, you've already had a partial gastrectomy. Are they wanting to take the rest?

Gastroparesis?

Yes.  Because my stomache muscle is no longer contracting my food just sits there and veerrry slowly passes through.  They did call it gastroparesis.  I end up throwing up all the time and having heart burn and acid continually.

So, has anyone discussed converting you to RNY? Small pouch, re-placed stoma might kick it into gear?

My doc has fixed some "atonic" pouches. That is, without tone. They are like a deflated balloon, just flacid and don't contract. But once rebuilt, they work like a new pouch.
