Need your input.. raised liver enzymes? possible hernia?

I'm wondering if anyone is experiencing these issues..  I'm 1year 2 months post op, have lost 130lbs and am just inside "normal weight" range.  I'll be happy to stop losing any time.  A few things have popped up over the last few months... 1. I'm having pain in my intestines after I eat dinner (which is the only meal I really sit and focus on eating with, the rest I pick between calls all day, so I'm thinking I'm just eating to fast or not chewing enough).  My dr just did blood test and is sending me for an GI series (basically an xray several times in the course of a few hours) to see if I have a hernia or intestinal twists, scar tissue, etc... 2. Blood test showed low sugar (50, normal is 70-120) and slightly elevated liver enzymes.  I have noticed in the last few months I will begin to shake if I don't eat every 2 hours so I have to be careful.  The liver enzymes have me raising my eyebrows.  At this point, I should not have a fatty liver and should be healthier then I was preop.  My gall bladder was removed with the RNY so, I can't understand what this could be.  Dr wants to watch it but no further testing at this time.   Anyone else experience any of this?  I'd love to hear your feedback! You really should be checked for Hep-C. Other than raised lliver enzymes the only other symptons are being tired more than normal. I am in remission from Hep-C over 10 years now.

For hypoglycemia, eat at regular intervals every 3-4 hours.  Avoid simple carbs (white flour, white rice, white sugar).  Make your carbs complex ones.  Do not eat carbs by themselves - eat them with protein and fat.  It changes the rate that the glucose is absorbed and how your body responds with insulin.  If you feel shakey, eat protein with carbs.  Those vending machine peanut butter crackers work really well.  I carry 'em with me in an eyeglass case so they don't get crushed.  Always have an emergency stash. As for high liver enzymes, it isn't that unusual for a post-op to experience that.  I had elevated levels from about 9 months post-op on.   I had two that were off.  Now only one is elevated and it is very slight so the doctor's isn't concerned.  When we lose fat, it can be hard on the liver.  I take milk thistle every day to help my liver.  It purportedly helps cleanse the liver.  My doc is aware of this and is fine with it.  In some folks, the liver issue have been attributed to taking a large intake of vitamins but that is more the rare person then the norm.  Always be sure to follow-up with your doctor and go through whatever monitoring they feel best based on your labs. Good luck, Kathy

Hi, I was wondering if you ever found out what caused your elevated liver enzymes? My gallbladder got stones, clogged me and caused liver damage. Donna

After my surgery I had high liver enzymes also.    About 4 weeks post op I developed a stricture.  I had to be dilated a few times through Endoscopy over a year or so.   When the gastro Dr. did blood work he found the high enzymenes.  So he did the Hepititis test and sent me for an ultrasound of the liver.  All was normal.  Eventually the numbers came down and were normal.  Before the surgery my enzymes were normal.  I found it odd that it showed a fatty liver after losing over 100 pounds.    I can't remember the doctor's explanation.    I thought I read that when you lose the weight so fast that it filters through the liver fast and raises the numbers.  I'm not positive.   So I would not worry.   Maybe just follow up with another blood test and then an ultrasound if they numbers don't come down.
