Pain after hernia repair 3 months later

I had a hernia right after my initail RNY that was in April of 04 and it took them 18 months to figure it out.  I had that repaired all went well have had any problems since that repair in sept of 05.  In jan of 07 I lifted a box at work and caused another hernia (yea for me NOT).  I had that fixed in July and am still having the pain that I had previous to surgery.  I have been to surgeon several times and am not sure why i am having this.  Anyone with a hernia repair that the pain just never went away?  I feel that there is still something wrong anyone have any ideas or could help me out please let me know.

I had a internal herina after my RNY had pain for  weeks in and out of the ER with them telling me that they did not know what was wrong with me then Finally  my Doc say's I have a internal Herina he goes in and repairs the hernia well for last two years I have been having the same pains the Doc has went back in found no herina  I still have the pain and I still go to the ER and no one knows what is wrong I have also went to Gastro Doc to and have had my Gallbladder taken out to.This pain is really bad and can last up to six or more hours

Ok sounds like your having the same issues as I am and I am sorry that your going through that.  Do you get diariah with it?  Did you have iritable bowl before gastric? I did and the one doctor says that might be what is going on.  My surgeon is saying it could ******ve and the scar tissue is around it and when I move wrong it causes the pain.  I eat for pain and this really has me going down a path I can not go down.  I am up 35 pounds already since this happened to me. 

Yes sometimes I do have diaria but have never been told that I have IBS I wonder if I have the nerve thing who knows  all I know is I have these pain attach about one to two inches below my belly button and no one knows why I have thse attachs and I feel like the doctors are acting like I am one of those people that are pain pill seekers thety just tell me I don't know what is wrong with you so I can't treat you for the pain I have been told to just show up at Emory ER and maybe there will be some one there who might know what to do with me .

Yep yep yep, have had this also.  I had RNY in 12/99, I've had 5 hernia repairs since then - no one thought it a good idea to tell me not to lift!  Anyway i've had mesh in and out and I went for 2 years with no mesh, just hernias and pain and hanging.  I had the last one repaired in May and it went fine, but I also still have pain.  I've been told it was just my mesh and the staples and I'd always have it.  This last surgery was done at the Mayo Clinic because I had so many bad complications and so long with infections, really high risk, bla bla bla.  I really loved my surgeon there and trust her 100% and that's what she said - mesh and staples and scar tissue, which someone else mentioned.  But I support you in keeping a watch on it, as I have to.  (Personally I think I have another one now.)  GL
