Does ANYONE know anyone who has had a reversal of the RNY? I am desperate to hear from someone that went through it or knows anything about it. I am scheduled for June 4th and am going to get a second opinion before but i'd really like to talk to anyone else who has any information. Thank you for your help Jill

Go to Yahoo Groups.com and search for OSSG WLS GONE WRONG. This group has several people who had reversals. None for constant stomach pain though. If it's nerve pain, the reversal won't help. Did you have diabetes before? Focal Neurapathy can affect the abdomen, and cause extreme pain. Meds for nerve pain, like Lyrica usually help.

Thank you so much for responding. I can't believe how hard it's been to find any info on this. No diabetes before. I have had no problems at all since my RNY in October of 2005. I have a list of questions for my surgeon and I put that Focal Nueropathy on it. That's exactly what i'm afraid of is having the reversal and it not taking care of the problem. I have no problem with reversing it if it does help, you know. I just so far have heard what a nightmare the reversal is, ie. feeding tubes, ICU etc.  Again, thank you for your help, I want to be as informed as possible. Jill

Jill, I answered you on another board -- though I can't specifically remember what I asked -- I am highly curious about WHY you are having a reversal. You had mentioned something about "pain" but I don't think explained the pain or the exact reason for the reversal?  I also asked if your doctor had done any exploratory surgery to look for an internal hernia and/or adhesions and/or obstruction??  I've had several "complications" so I seek knowledge as you do!! Thank you!

I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side.  The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.

Sorry to be so lazy but here's my other post;

I had my RNY Oct 2005. Been doing great until 6 months ago. I had my gallbladder out and even since that it's like all hell broke lose. I am having severe abdominal pain and weakness, malnutrition and my weight's getting pretty low. I'm 5"6" and am weighing 120. Too thin for me. I've been in and out of the hospital so many times i've lost count. They've done exploratory surgery, a liver biopsy, all kinds of Ct and MRI's. The only thing they did find is that I have a liver disease due to obesity and rapid weight loss. It's a form of hepatitis called NASH. But this isn't what's causing my problems. So......here's what the plan is. Dr. Coirin and I have decided to do a reversal to see if this clears up my symptoms. I'm scared to death, i've worked so hard at losing the weight and am happy but I can't live with this pain and weakness. So I have no choice really. And then on top of that he's not even sure if that will alleviate the problems i'm having. Ugh! But at least that way they can do tests that they are now limited from doing .

What kind of problems are you having?

The fatty liver (NASH) is caused by being fat, not losing weight. Do you smoke by chance?
