Has anyone had fundoplication surgery for gerd after having a gastric bypass? My gerd is worse than ever, and I have terrible asthma from it. Thank you Amy

Amy, most people's GERD is resolved with RNY. Mine was. You surgeon needs to answer to why you would still be having symptoms. he was supposed divide your stomach into 2 parts, leaving the acid producing part in the remnant stomach, not in the pouch.

Hey, I am waiting for approval revision from the band to the bypass because of acid reflux.  My insurance denied it stating by having a bypass is was just experiemental, and unproven.  Anywhere I can go to prove them wrong.  My doctor is going to go to bat for me but I am worried it won't be enough. Did you ever have the nissen fundoplication surgery? I had two nissen fundos because of the acid/gerd and Barrett's esophagus and they both failed, so I had to gastric bypass surgery on April 25, 2007 to get rid of the acid part of my stomach. I also had my gallbladder taken out two weeks after gastric bypass, now I still have acid reflux, however they say it cant be acid cause that part of my stomach is no longer there, it's probably bile so they put me on meds for that. Hope things have worked out for you by now and you are feeling better.
