Hello All, I am leaning toward VSG for my WLS - curious if any one has had problems with it or know of someone who has?  Thank you for the input!

I had my VSG about 3 weeks ago (3/30/07) and have absolutely NO complaints.  I had originally planned on having the RNY but after further consultation with my surgeon he suggested the VSG might be a better option for me.  The final decision on which surgery I would have wasn't made until after the operation was started - the surgeon made the determination once he "got in there" to assess everything.  I'm VERY happy with my surgery.  I have had no complications or problems and based on other posts on the VSG board, I'd say everyone is happy with their VSG as well.  I will say I did have gas pain the first couple of post-op days from the CO2 (had a lap VSG) but that went away once I was able to start moving around and walking.  Feel free to check out my profile and if you have any questions feel free to ask.  I think you're smart to learn as much as you can about WLS (no matter which type of procedure you choose) before making your decision -- GOOD LUCK!

I don't know what your weight is, but have you researched the duodenal switch forum.  This incorporates the VSG with malabsorption.  Never heard of anyone want to switch from the DS.

Research all possible surgeries before deciding  which way you want to go.  Make sure that the choice you make is something you can live with.  Because after all, that is what you are going to have to do.
