I've done a lot of research and finally found a doc who specializes in gb complications including reversals and in my case avoiding a reversal.  His name is Dr Elliot Goodman and works at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City.  He see's patients from all over the world.  He called me and talked to me for about an hour and said that if I can get to NYC he will admit me.  He's very reputable and so is Beth Israel.  Just google him and there's tons of information about him.  My problem is that I don't have a way to go to NYC.  I'm desparately trying to figure that out as I sit her in the hospital  getting ready to have a pic line put it to iv feed me and then get a reversal.  If I can find a way to go to NYC  I will abandon this hospital in a  second because I'm terrified of the reversal as I stated in other postings.  Anyway if any of you can get to NYC and your insurance will cover it than you should google this doc.  Maybe he can help you too.

I have really good news to report.  Dr Goodman was able to arrange a charity flight for me to go to NYC and he admitted me to Beth Israel.  I was there for ten days.  He ran several tests for the first few days.  Then he did a surgery to insert a feeding tube into my small intestine so that I was able to get the nutrients I wasn't getting because of my two years of chronic vomiting.   I was seen and treated by Dr Goodman and a team of specialists.  He put me on reglin for the vomiting which is working very well.  He is confident that I will be able to have the feeding tube removed at some point and eat normally.  I already don't have to use it every day because the vomiting has stopped.  I have a condition called gastroparesis which basically means my stomach doesn't dump the food into my intestine properly and that has been causing the vomiting.  Before I went I was so weak that I had to have a wheel chair to escort me between the terminals at the airport.  Now I feel like a normal person for the first time in years and I don't know how to act.  Dr Goodman saved me from having to have a life threatning reversal surgery and I believe he saved my life.  I am personally convinced he is the absolute best doctor in America for GB complications.  I thought I was either going to die or be so disabled I would never be able to work again.  I feel healthy and well again and am very excited about it.  Please call him or email him. He told me of a patient who was trying to arrange to go see him but sadly she died before she could come. It doesn't have to be that way for you.  I don't  know how it works but someone there told me since it is a teaching hospital they also have some kind of sliding scale so even if your insurance won't cover it or you don't have any it is still worth checking out.  Please!!!   He works with a team of specialists and together they test you and find out how to treat you.  I am elated!!  Don't wait.  Call or email him right away.  This could be the answer you have been trying to find and I want everyone to know about it. You can google him and Beth Israel so please don't wait!!!   The day I left the hospital I had three hours before I had to get the the airport and even took a quick double decker bus tour of the city.  The entire trip was the best thing that ever happened to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I know our regular gb surgeons and gastroenterologists blow us off and don't try to find out what is really wrong.  Dr Goodman is a real expert and he can really help.   If any of you are able to go I would love to know if you had the same positive experience I had!!!!  Take care and get well!! You really can!!!!! Love, LeAnn Skeen

LeAnn, Wow, what a story, thank God! What a miracle. I'm facing a reversal on June 4th and see no other option. I wish so much there was. I'm so frightened. Jill

I'm sorry to hear that.  I know it is rare that anyone actually has to get a reversal.  What kind of complications are you having that makes the doctor want to give you a reversal? That is very drastic.  Let me know what is going on.
