STRICTURES?
Hello Karen,
I developed a stricture when I was 3 weeks out. I had a procedure to fix it 3 days ago. I did not know what was wrong but I could not eat or drink in 3 days I saw my surgeon and he told me I had a stricture. I was told that I would be good as new as soon as they stretched out my intestine. That was not the case. I can eat now but I get very nauseated. So I would rather not eat. I am taking baby steps one teaspoon at a time. I am suffering allot. I hope this helps.
Hey Karen,
I currently have a stricture. I've had it since about 5 weeks post-op. I have had it somewhat dilated, but not fully because I had a hard time losing weight after the surgery until I developed the stricture. I basically look at it as a blessing. Mine got progressively worse over a couple of month period, to the point that I was dehydrated and couldn't even hold down water. That's when I decided to have it taken care of. Once I get down to my near goal weight, I will then have it completely dialed. Right now I'm able to keep down about 2 protein shakes, 1/2 can soup, some cheese and 1-2 bottles of water a day. I just have to space things out so nothing gets stuck! The balloon dilation wasn't too bad, it's kinda like you can tell something was down there, maybe a little soreness, but nothing to complain about.
Good Luck,
Michelle
My mom had a stricture the size of a pinhole going out from her stomach to her intestines. When the suggestion was made to the original surgeon by me that is it possible? He was adamant in his answer saying NO! She needs to go home and eat. I am new to this board and I will be posting my moms story soon. But long story short for the moment, she went to a new surgeon at my insistence and low and behold she had a stricture. Signs are usually cant keep food down, vomiting, dumping etc. Good Luck I hope everything works out for you
