Lower back pain, Diarreaha
6 months after my surgery I started having severe lower back pain, I was in the hospital for 6 days. I had not had a BM during that entire time, once I was given a laxitive the pain went away. Everyday I have diarreah after I eat, sometimes less than 15-20 minutes after I eat I am in the bathroom for about 30-45 mintues.
Then as soon as I am finished I am hungry again, it is like nothing stays in my system long enough and I continue to lose weight. I now have to eat more calories and more frequent to keep weight on. I was wondering if anyone else has the back pain, it also goes away once I use the bathroom. I also have TERRIBLE gas, I am always burping after I eat, or worse passing it the other way.
I have had an upper GI and a colonoscopy that showed everything was fine. Any suggestions?
Hey there!
I know you posted this forever ago, I was wondering what ever happened? You and I both used Riverside Surgical... I really, really love them! Anyway I had Lap GB (RNY) in dec 2005. I lost 150 lbs. In October of 2007, at my all time low, I ate something I shouldn't have and it caused a Bowel obstruction. It took two days to pass it with the help of Laxatives and Stool softeners. I then had six weeks of pain. Sometimes a burning if I hadn't eaten and all the time lower back pain. It faded, then came back two months later and stayed for about a month. Then again same cylcle and am now on the back end of another one! I have all the same problems you do with the diarreah and pain... and gas, and eating too much. Dr. Strickland send me to a gastrinologist who is clueless. they have me on a muscle relaxer that slows my intestines up and keeps it from cramping. the problem is that the muscle relaxer counteracts my malabsorbtion and doesn't really stop the pain consistantly. So I have gained like 10 lbs since October due to the drugs and am still in pain.
My massage therapist had GB also and things maybe the Bowel Obstruction triggered my old stomach to start seriously producing stomach acid again and it is out of sync with the rest of my body so that is causing the burning which causes my intestines to become inflamed and causes them to hurt or push against another organ and make it hurt.
Anyway, any input you have would be helpful! I hope you are doing great!!!
and let me just say this isn't a complication caused by our surgoens or the surgery, it is my own fault I think...
Thanks!
