Daily Port Pain
I was banded on April 18, 2006. Until the last few weeks, I was vomiting at least daily. I know I was eating too fast, but I asked my doctor and he said this was normal, due to the fluid that is in your stomach before you start eating. He said I should eat a cracker before each meal. I think there is something wrong with my port site. I have pain almost all day long now. I have seen the doctor twice for the pain, and he says everything is alright. Should I have further testing, to see if there is a problem, or is this normal because of the constant vomiting???
Vomiting daily is normal?? No, it's not normal! Usually it means you have too much fill or else you are eating to fast or too big bite. But if you are eating according to the bandster rules and still vomiting you need to have a unfill. Second after vomiting you should be on clear liquids at least for 24hours afterwards, not doing so can contribute to you vomiting again because the pouch is swollen. And what fluid is your doctor talking about?? Have you been to the Lapband forum? There are many there to help you. Pain all day might mean you have slipped your band and your doctor should unfill you and check your band for slippage. http://obesityhelp.com/forums/LapBand/a,messageboard/board_id,5359/

I agree, vomiting daily is definitely not the norm. I've been banded since 12/5/06 and have never vomited. As far as port pain, I've recently had mine ache a bit after waking in the morning, but it goes away by afternoon and my surgeon contributed that to the sleeping position(tummy) I was in at night. That ache was gone in about a week and tylenol and/or a heating pad helped. I hope you get relief soon.
