I had Open RNY on 12/11. Then, I found a sore hard spot in my stomach near the navel right after Christmas. I had to go to the hospital, it was an infection and they put a tube in. This tube had to be pulled out 1 inch everyday until it came out. After it came out, I still had the infection. My doctor put it a different kind of tube. This one had to be irrigated with a wound solution and then a saline solution. Well, I still got more hard spots on my stomach. The doctor dedicded to take me to surgery, open part of the icision and put it 2 drainage tubes for irrigation as well has a hole in my stomach about 2" deep, 2"wide, and 3 " long. The home health nurse is working with me on this and I ahve been on strong antibiotics. Well, we just found another hard spot on my stomach and are waiting to hear back from the doctors. This is crazy! Anyone out there know anything about these infections?

They Could be "stitch Granulomas" or Abcesses...A granuloma is where your body rejects the stitches. Often they appear as hard spots under your incision line. I have to date had 3. My surgeon opens them and leaves them open to heal from the inside to the outside. I had to put sterile packing into the space and it gradually healed up.. I hope this helps you.
