Hey Melissa! My sister had MGB March 2006 and sailed thru it very well, up until very recently. She is now less than 110 lbs and having some trouble - Fever of 104, abdominal pain and dehydration. Been to emergency room 3 times in the last month and she just keeps getting weaker and skinnier. She eats just fine but it goes right thru her and she has no control over her bowels at all. I'm taking her back to NC this week to see her bariatric surgeon in High Point. I'm really worried. Has anyone out there had this problem? I myself am 5 years post with an open Roux-en-Y with Dr Fox out of Tacoma, and never had a problem with my nutrition. The only time I gain wt now is when I start drinking sodas. Soon as I lay off the Coca-cola, I lose the weight right away. Another sister of mine had MGB with Dr Rutledge in High Point, she is 3 years post op, weighs the same as me (120 lbs). She never had any complications and is doing fabulous. I know that my other sister is having trouble because she is not following instructions. She hates to take pills so I believe she often skips her vitamins and supplements. The more your nutritional state is compromised, the fuzzier your thinking becomes, and it is a downward spiral. YOU HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING EVERYTHING EVERYTHING THAT THE DOCTOR TELLS YOU TO DO, AND YOU HAVE TO DO IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!!!! That's why the screening process is so rigorous. People who cannot make permanent lifestyle changes are not going to be successful, and will become seriously ill as a result. Good luck to you! Sandy

Hello!  I have a few questions.  You had a mini gastric bypass? Who did it? I hear that there's one doctor that pushes the mini bypass and I hear he has been banned from practicing in several states.  I hope you are doing better now!
