I have 2 spots way below my incision that are open and yucky. I had a lower body lift, and was sitting on the toilet and looked down and saw some water bubbles in my tape area, thinking it was glue that had somehow trapped some water, I popped them and pulled off the "tape". I then took off all my bandages and realized it was skin I had popped. Where the drains go in (pubic area) I have 2 open wounds now that are yucky and red and serous fluid, no pus. They were burning like fire, but now not burning, but I let them air dry and put some triple antibiotic ointment on them and called the doc, he said that was good, and I am going in tomorrow 1st thing for him to take our my drains. I am not putting out hardly anymore fluid, and its 5 days tomorrow. He said to keep some Triple Antibiotic ointment on them and keep covered, but I am going to let thm airdry. I really cleaned up and am keeping the tubes clean. I forgot that if they use bad thick tape on me, I break out and get really red around it. This is the first time I had blisters, but it Anyone have this happen to them? The incision looks good, not red or bubbled or bad or smelly. No fever other than the 1st 2 nights...which is typical of me in surgeries. So, is this tape thing normal? Thanks Deb

Hi there, I had appendicitis in the summer and i had a bit of the same issue, it turns out i was reacting to the adhesive on the tape, try and change the adhesive you are using for your dressings. Try tegaderm or more of a paper tape. Hope that helps. Alison

I think reactions to the tape is fairly common...I got pretty intense rashes from it but no blistering, thankfully...I wish they'd work a little harder to come up with a surgical tape that was more hypo-allergenic as I think it's common enough to warrant it. Nancy

I am allergic to adhesive and get blisters.. be sure to tell them you have an adhesive allergy if you have any more surgeries...
