Hi, I had Lap RNY on june 30, 2006. Things have been perfect up unitl last Thursday. Long story made short I just got done spending tow days back and forth in the ER and 2 days in the hospital. Here is what is happening. 1. Severe pain Center abdobmen, about 2 inches under my breast bone. 10 on the pain scale, It really hurts! 2. Pain comes and goes and does not seem to be related to eating. 3. Very gasy/burpy 4. When I eat or drink I can feel the food/fluid bubbling through my small intestines almost as if it is droping rigt form my throat into my intestines. 5. Pooping has been difficult, not really constipated, more like the sensation of not being able to push the poop out. 6. On and off diareaha 7. Lack of Energy - I have been very athletis my whole life, I suspec tthislackof energy may be due to pain meds and the pain! I go tomorrow for a scope, I have had the typical x-ray, CT and contrast stuff done. All the test so far have come back normal. Just wondering if anyone has had these symptoms and what to expect tomorrow? Right now they are thinkng ulcer but I am thinking an ulcer hurts THIS bad? I did have some adhesions from previous surgeries but nothing too severe according to my surgeon. Thanks for any input you may have. Linda

Hi, Linda! I'm so sorry you're having troubles. Your symptoms sound eerily similar to mine. That's why 9 almost 10 months after surgery I deiced to ask and answer some questions on the website. I wish I had some answers! (And I hope I'm doing this reply correctly) My symptoms and pain usually occur between 4:00 and 8:00 in the morning, before I've had anything to eat or drink. About five months after RNY, I started having very severe pain about 2 inches below my breastbone, and rolling and shooting all over my abdomen. This occurs about once every two to three weeks. For a few days after, the first sips of water cause the same pain but on a much reduced scale. Other symptoms that started four months ago, starting anywhere from 2:00 to 8:00 in the morning, were severe cramping, convulsive dry heaves, profuse salivating (tastes sour), and -- sorry to be graphic but-- sludgy, smelly stools. More symptoms started three months ago...severe pain on my right side under my rib cage and through to my back. (I have my gall bladder--not stones but some mild "sludge") I have been to my GP, two surgeons, and a gastroenterologist. They know there's a problem but don't know what. I've had two CT scans, an ultrasound on my gall bladder, a HIDA scan, EGD, and x-ray. I've tried Tylenol, Vicodin, heat, cold, all kinds of stomach and intestinal meds, probiotics, etc. I am following the eating plan as far as types of foods and amounts and drink my water. No sugar, no simple carbs... My surgeon decided to try Nexium and said if it works it's probably an ulcer and the gastroenterologist said the problem is likely in an area they can't scope. I will say the Nexium has reduced the frequency of the symptoms. Any ideas out there? Sorry to be so long winded! Tigs
