Good morning all,
I am 2 1/2 years post-op and suddenly having problems. I have nausea, diarrea, dizziness periodic over last couple of weeks. I have no idea if this is related to my surgery but I am thinking it may be.
Can anybody tell me if this could possible be an obsturction of some sort or maybe a narrowing??
I am going to see a doctor but not till next week unfortunately and in the meantime I am worried.
Pls answer as best you can!
Thanks,
Lois
Lori, obstructions or stenosis usually comes with some vomiting. You could have picked up a bug from something...but you need the doctor to answer that. As for the dizziness perhaps you are dehydrated from all the nausea and diarrhea. Try to keep yourself hydrated and call the doctors office and ask to be seen sooner...take a cancelation.
I hope you feel better soon,
Robin
An internal hernia and/or adhesions could also be causing you pain. Your bowel can be protruding into or through a space or organ and adhesions can grow anywhere which can attach and pull at organs (which causes tremendous pain typically with movement) and/or they can strangle the bowel. In cases of internal hernias, loops, and adhesions, you may or may not develop a full blockage. So, to not have a blockage would not mean that one is not suffering from one or both of these illnesses.
There are cases where internal hernias and ahesions do NOT show up on any CT Scans, MRIs, X-Rays, etc. (as mine) so the only way to diagnose is know the patients medical history, evaluate the symptoms, and consider exploratory surgery.
I was in pain for 7 months and finally had to go back home to another state where my original WLS did the exploratory. I had an internal hernia with my bowel incarcerated and a huge mass of adhesions. Now 3 months later, I've been having problems again and the recent CT Scan shows that I have three loops in my small intestine which were not there when my surgeon left my body. I'm waiting on our final decision on how to proceed. I can't bear the thought of another surgery but it may be the only way.
I have more information on my profile in the Health Secions towards the top regarding internal hernias and adhesions.
I hope you feel better soon!
