PENDING ADHESIONS SURGERY, ADVICE?
HI I am 3 yrs post WLS. When I had WLS my surgeon found tons of adhesions from previous c-sections and cut my intestines down from the chest wall, my uterus had adhesed above my stomach...... intestines were fused together with scarring. When I awoke the pain was incredible from the adhesions being removed from the chest wall.
So, that being said I am not going to blame my adhesions on my WLS. I am having problems with bowel pains about 2-3 inches above my right hip. I had a mass of poop stuck and had a cat scan to see if it were a tumor and it wasnt. Now I am scheduled for a colonoscopy, if that checks out okay I will be forwarded to my WLS Surgeon for exploritory surgery and adhesion removal and repairs.
Does anyone know where we were cut in our intestines (what side?) and rerouted for the RhnY?
I was on STD for 12 weeks with the gastric bypass since I had complications with the adhesions. How long will I be out for this? I just had a baby 6 months ago and have exhausted STD and all other leaves...... I took 6 months off, 3 without pay~ 1 month before baby and 5 months after. Has anyone had adhesion surgery, was it open or lapriscopically done? How long were you off from work? How are you now? I am on a script laxative now and when I skip a down I get boweled up for a week.... and the pain is unbelieveable!
My WLS surgeon told me last week he will do the surgery once I am cleared with the colonoscopy on the 11th...... Any advice or experience shared is most welcome!

Hi,
All of the rerouting is done on the left side. the pouch is right under your left rib bones and the Y connection is just left near your bellybutton.
GOOD LUCK!

I'm sorry for your troubles!!
You may also have an internal hernia (IHs and Adhesions don't always show up on any x-ray, ct scan, mri, etc.).
There is really no way to estimate your healing time without knowing what the doctor is going to have to do once he gets in there.
You could have minimal scarring and be up and at it in a couple of days or you could have one or more hernias repairs and a lot of scar tissue removed which could set you back some weeks. Also, it will depend on how well you heal and tolerate pain.
I feel for you and everyone else. Sometimes I think I've simply traded in one set of problems for another. *sigh*
Keep us posted!
Best,
Vanessa
Meeee tooo!!
I just got scheduled for surgery on the 15th of Nov for exploratory adhesions and possible internal hernia removal. Why now?? Why at 13 months, almost 14 months?? I had no problems up til now. Also I have elevated liver enzymes and my new gastric bypass doc (we just moved to CA from Charleston, SC) said I had a really large bile duct...don't know why, I don't have a gallbladder, so it worries me more than the adhesions.
I agree, all the old problems we knew all the risks associated with the surgery, but the bile duct thing worries me more.
Love to you Melissa!!
