I posted on the other board nothing showed up, now reading the complications message board I think I am going to be ripped apart, I don't know you shouldn't post any horror stories. Here is my horror story, although it is not my own it is my friends who had surgery on Aug 9 2006. He came out ok and then his BP dropped low, he couldn't breath and was put on a respirator. They punctured his lung during this procedure and the lung collapsed. He came out of ICU the following monday. He was taken off the vent that day as well. He seemed to be doing better, then he became jaundice. He was transferred to Pittsburgh MC, and has a staph infection msra? and pnuemonia and needs a liver. He went into liver failure. We didn't know he had any prior liver problems. He is 35, and it doesn't look good for him. He is overweight, but I would guess 380. Any advice words of hope anything?

Prayers they work! I also endured many complications post revision, 2 abcsesses, collapsed left lung, ruptured stomach pouch and a fistula that drained my peritoneal cavity. I was on a feeding tube for 6 weeks and nothing by mouth during that time! He is young and even if he has alot going wrong the body can overcome insurmountable cir****tances. Be sure to visit him often and cheer him on.....every little bit of encouragement helps! Believe me I know...I told my family I wanted to die when I was going through it all, but they kept encouraging me to hold on and that I would overcome everything! The liver transplant is probably partially due to previous liver damage from a "fatty liver"(it is similiar to cirrohosis). Keep your thoughts positive and pray! Hugs going out to you all! Dawn

We visited him last week when he was in the Poconos. He is now in Pittsburg and we are in NY it is hard to go see him. It is hard to even get any line of communication on how he is doing because his wife is always in there with him and I am sure once she leaves she doesn't want to reha**** We get updates every other day. It is scary and fustrating. He has a staph infection as well, I don't know how bad that is, but with pneumonia we are frightened for him.
