Hi I had the GBS April 2005. I have done well -- minor complications, a few months ago coming up with an ulcer. nothing earth shattering. I am down from my top weight of 329, was 271 at the time of my bypass, and am now 175. On June 30th I had a lower body lift and brachioplasty. I had a rough time with the anesthesia, but was recovering eventually, staying in the hospital only 3 days longer than expected. On June 8th I ended up in emergency surgery having an intussusception (telescoping bowel) and hernia which apparently helped the blockage progress. My 5 days in the hospital were hellish, having an extreme nauseated reaction to morphine -- finally was able to say NO when I was conscious enough. I've been home almost a week and having quite a struggle. I am scared of the telescoping happening again, I am afraid to be nauseated again (i'd rather be 329 than be constantly nauseous). Percocet is keeping me as pain-free as is fair. I have a hard time eating -- I just forced down 1/2 can of Stallone Hi-Protein pudding for a whopping 50 calories and 10 grams of protein. I'm feeling down -- I usually take anti-depressants and am quite a stable, smiling person in my life, but I can't deal with all of these pills, so I've been inconsistent. I looked for someplace I could perhaps whine a bit? That's my story Marla

Hi Marla, As you know I have had enough complications to go around but keeping a positive outlook does go a long way. I know what you mean w/the nausea. I live with it pretty much everyday. Have they given you anything to maybe help with the nausea like companize or zolfram? My last surgery I developed intussusception at the Y connection so you arent alone there either. I know dealing w/complications are annoying and scary but keep you chin up and email me anything, ok? I wish you nothing but the best.
