Topic: No out of bounds
God gives us boundaries for a reason, not just to annoy us. He knows what is best for us so He gives us boundaries to make our life easier. If we follow those boundaries we will have a much smoother life. Even the seas know they have boundaries of the shore according to Jeremiah. He also gives us free will so we can ignore those boundaries but hopefully we learn quickly that it is in our best interests to heed them so we can spend our time in the Lord's works and not trying to gert ourselves out of the messes we tend to get our selves into when we ignore them. God bless! Karen

Topic: Looks don't count
Yesterday I talked about modesty in clothing and today I'm talking about what we look like doesn't count. Now you may wonder how these can be compatible but they are. We as already saved Christians should want to wear more modest clothing as a show of respect for our Lord and what He asks of us. Yet we should not judge others if they are different from us in looks, race or social status. It maybe that the new Christian hasn't yet learned the message or maybe they can't afford anything different, there are many reasons others may look or act differently. Yet it isn't up to us to judge them, we can try to teach them and show them a "better" way but it is not our job to judge them. In time God will convict them if He feels it needs addressing. In the mean time we are to share His love and show the way. God bless! Karen

Topic: You're never too old!
Just because we are older doesn't mean we are useless. We may not be able to do the same things we did in the past but we are still able to accomplish many much needed things. In the past I went to the church every Sat. to vacuum and make sure the bathrooms were nice and clean for Sun. services. Now that just can't happen because the old body doesn't work anymore like it used to. However now I have the time to knit and crochet for the the Lord. I, along with some other ladies make hats for the Salvation Army bell ringers, we also make afghans for a safehouse for women and children. If we keep our eyes and hearts open God will show us where we can serve Him. Even if you can't move from your bed you can pray for others and that sometimes is even more important than actual actions and works. All you have to do is ask what He would have you do and He will show you! God bless! Karen

Topic: Some things never change.
Today's subject is timeless, while fashions may change nearly daily the basics never do. The Bible says we should dress to draw attention to God not ourselves. Now that doesn't mean we can't have a distinctive manner of dress but it can still be something aceptable to God. Now I gotta admit when I was younger I tried to wear the oddest clothes I could just to annoy my parents sometimes. We all want to be individuals and not like everyone else. I find as I get older it is much easier to dress more acceptable to God and not so much myself. I can still look nice but be more covered and modest. This can be an issue for many of WLS patients since for the first time maybe they have a nice looking figure and want to show it off. As Christians tho we need to remember to be somewhat modest in attire. Not everyone needs to see our accomplishments. We can still show our success and be covered in a more modest way. Now I'm not saying we need to don head to toe covering, but we can can dress nicely without too much skin. Try to look at it as how would you dress if you were meeting our Lord and Savior. God bless! Karen

Topic: Silver lining
It's so easy to dwell on the negative and succumb to the bad times. We need to remember what Paul taught about finding the good in situations. Even while imprisioned he managesd to find positive in his situation. So if Paul can find good while being in prison we should certainly be able to find some good in any situation we are in. Take a second next time you are annoyed or frustrated and actively look for something positive, you may be surprised how it changes the whole situation. God bless! Karen

Topic: A promise
One of the ultimate promises is the wedding vow. We promise not only to each other but to God that we will commit to that other person. We promise to be there whether we want to or not sometimes. I think this is one of the reasons a Christian marriage is so important, it's fairly easy to renege to another person but it's much harder to renege to God. This promise however keeps us around long enough to work thru things instead of just bolting at the first sign of upset. So keep your promises to yourself and God. God bless! Karen

Topic: Fly away
Oh if we could only flee from our problems and just not look back. That would be easy to do but we as Christians don't need to flee we can give our problems to Christ who will handle them for us. So we needn't run we can face our problems with our Savior to handle them for us. The hardest part is learning to surrender those problems to Jesus, that is the tricky part. God bless! Karen

Topic: Reach out and touch someone!
I don't know about you but I often wonder if I've done anything with my life, have I made any kind of possitve impact. We don't tend to see the little things we do that can be life changing to someone else. If I did nothing else in my life I know that being here for my grand daughter and her daughter have changed the negative lifestyle that has gone on for generations in her family. She has broken the chain of abuse and addiction that has gone on for many generations and all I did was open my home to her. She did the work but had I (we) not opened that door for her she would most likely be in a horribly sad situation. So you don't have to change the world, just change a little piece of it and look at the difference it makes!

Hi Karen,
I am not feeling well today.  Stomach issues.

Being a friend involves loving.  Jesus said, in one of the gospels, that if we love Him, we will obey His commandments.  Our obedience expresses our love for our Lord.

Hugs,
Trish
Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.
