Topic: RE: How's your walk?
My walk has definitely changed in the last 35 years.  For years, it was Christian on Sundays, at church.  Then, the rest of the week, it was the old, craziness of my carnal life.  Gradually, after about 15 years of hypocrisy, I changed radically.  A dear Christian friend took on the responsibility of mentoring me in my faith, at the same time I was in early recovery in AA and therapy.  Her teaching me about God's infinite grace and love transformed me into a different woman.  My husband saw the changes, but left me after 25 years anyway.  For a brief while, I thought about turning away from God, because my world had been turned upside down.  Fortunately, my friend, Ruth, even though she moved from Pennsylvania to Florida, stayed faithful to encouraging me via phone calls and e-mail.  There were many times when I fell flat on my face in my walk.  Especially during my two year relapse with the alcohol, but God kept using Ruth and my therapist to get me back on track, and eventually into the hospital and rehab, which I needed.

It would be totally impossible for me to walk alone.  I need Christian friends, like you, and Ruth, and others to encourage, exhort and admonish me along the path that the Lord has set for me.  And, I have learned that my path probably does not look much like your path, or Ruth's path, but because of technology, and travel, our paths can connect on occasion.  Last February, I traveled to Florida, and Ruth and I had breakfast together, and sat by the pool at the hotel for an hour, which was the first time we had seen each other in over a decade.  I cherish that precious time where I could hear her voice and see her smile at the same time.

Sorry to babble.

Hugs,
Trish

Topic: RE: Visit with the pulmonary doc.
I will definitely keep you in prayer, and am grateful in a lot of ways.  My lung problems are minor, with the chronic asthma, and infrequent clots.  I am bedridden currently, just because I prefer to be in bed with my foot elevated, then out in the living room.  It has to do with my doggy.  He likes to be as close to me as possible these days, and in bed, he can lay next to me while I read, crochet, or work on my laptop.  The only thing I can do with him on my lap is watch TV.

In my prayers.

I have to confess that I spend the entire day with my TV on, because I hate the silence.  When I was walking, I would spend time with God, walking my dog, Utley, down by the Delaware River at a park two blocks away.  God and I meet there whenever I can, and prior to moving to this apartment, it was daily.  Since moving here, my walks have been about 3 times a week, and now that I am laid up with the toe surgery,

I do have ,my morning devotions and still have been working on my Bible study, which I love.  I savor each moment I am in that study, because the writer, Priscilla Shirer.  The study is on Job, and is called, "Job, Lessons of a Life Interrupted."  It is more personal than I ever thought a study of Job could be.

Good topic.

Have you ever noticed in the make over shows that when the ladies are finished being made over and they stand there they look so pretty but when they walk often they have trouble with the new shoes and feel akward with the look. That pertains to us as Christians too if we just stand still no one notices if we are following our Savior, but when we act they can see big as life whether we are "walking the walk"! We need to make sure what others see is an accurate representation of Christ and we need to make sure that we speak of things as He would. So let's star****ching our walk so others will see our walk.

God bless!

Topic: Visit with the pulmonary doc.
Well spent a good hour at the lung doc today and found out that after getting rid of the pneumonia and MRSA I had in June, I still have a bug called MAC in my lungs. It isn't contagiouse thank God but I guess it takes 12-15 mos. of very strong antibiotics to treat and even then it may not cure it. However it does give me one more reason why I am soooo tired all the time, it says that it can cause severe exhaustion, I imagine partly because you don't get enough oxygen. So for now I see him again in Nov. for follow-up and to get the results of some blood work. I still need to get my other foot surgery done so will probably put off the MAC treatment till after the first of the year. I would really appreciate some serious prayer for successful treatment because right now in my life I am pretty much stuck in bed most days because it is so hard to breath I don't get much of anything done. If it is God's will I sure would love to get at least some of my life back to normal and have the breathing capacity to be more active. Thanking you all ahead of time and I'll be sure to let you know what happens when we start treatment.

Topic: Are you too busy for God?
Are you so busy doing for God that you don't have time to be with God? Of course there are many things that must be taken care of in church and in our church life but we can't get so involved with busyness that we forget who we are there for. I had one of those ridiculous busy days myself today and really just wanted to go to bed early but after today's subject I surely couldn't bail before I got this written. It is so very easy to get side tracked or just plain too tired to want to read that Bible verse or say those prayers, we tend to always find it easier to put God off than to take the few minutes it requires to read the verse or say a prayer. This week let's make God a priority if only for one week. Remember He is there for us 24/7 can't we at least take 15 minutes out of our day just for Him?

God bless!

Topic: RE: Is your strength sapped?
Thanks for the prayer, Karen.  I am grateful that my pain is not as horrific as the surgery I had in March.  The difference is, I only had two toes operated on this time.  I had three done in March.  I am still tempted to ask for the Percocet, instead of the Ultram.  And, I can't drive for at least two weeks, and I am supposed to return to work for training on Monday.  I will be calling work on Thursday to let them know it is not possible.  Work is too far away to ask someone to drive me.

Gotta scoot.

Hugs,
Trish

Everyday life can be so draining! Too much to do, too many people counting on you, obligations pulling you in every direction! There is a source of strength we often forget about and it is readily available 24/7! Isa.40:29 says "He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength." Ask God to help you, feel free to ask Him to revitalize you, He is ready and able any moment you may need Him. Many times He is the only one who can lift your spirits and get you up and going again.

Let's end with prayer for Trish and her toes. Dear Father we pray that you would bring rapid healing to Trish, that her toes would be much better than they were and that she will be up and dancing in no time. In Jesus name Amen.

I know how those toes feel! I'm just now up and around from my first surgery and will have the other foot done in the next month or so. So you know you aren't alone.

God bless!\

Topic: Had toe surgery, need prayer.
 Hi Everyone,
I had two hammertoes corrected yesterday, and am in need of prayer.  I am not taking my usual pain killer, because of my addiction issues.  The pain pill I can take safely is not as effective as the one I had been on before.

The surgery itself went well.  The nurses and doctor are the best.  I was out like a light before I left pre-op, and woke up in post-op confused thinking in I was still in pre-op.

My surgeon/podiatrist, was nice enough to call me last night and check on me.  He reminded me that the docs were available 24/7.

I can't drive for a few weeks, and am grateful for friends and family that are willing to help me.

Thanks,
Trish
