I think I saw this book in my book club catalogue, but did not order it.  l started going back to Overeaters Anonymous meetings.

I am familiar with Food Addiction, a book that explains the addictive brain well.  Also, I started reading The Beck Diet Solution, which I did not stick with.

I find the 12 Steps of AA and OA very helpful to me in overcoming my addictions.  It is a program that focuses on developing and nurturing a relationship with God through prayer and meditation, as well as service to others.

Hugs,
Trish

I used to be a spendthrift.  I still spend too much on my Munchkin grandchildren, and on yarn.  I had been in bankruptcy a little over a year ago, and am now squaring away my debt with three of my creditors.

Now, I am giving more to my church, and being blessed in that my job at the hospital is paying me even though they are closed for repairs due to the flooding from Irene and Lee.

Hugs,
Trish

I will keep you in my prayers.  Smoking does exacerbate ulcers, as it did in my father's case.  Do get a second opinion.  It does not sound as if your surgeon is very helpful to you at this time.

Hugs,
Trish

Love may not be all you need, but it sure helps heal me.  I have a dear friend, Ruth, who has mentored me for more than a decade, and her love for me, no matter what I told her I had done, and her reminding me of Christ's unending, unconditional love, helped heal me of all the childhood fears and abuses, and emotional neglect.

Because of all that love, I am able to give love to some of the most unlovable people in society's eyes.  I try to see people as Christ sees them.  He hung out with and ministered to the people that society looked down on, and He showed His unending love to them.

Hugs,
Trish

hahaha, your last message made me think of
Isaiah 6:8   And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."

In all that you do do unto the glory of God, keep doing it, posting...
As I read this book  the Diet Alternative, by Diane Hampton.  I will try to post thoughts and revelations from this book.
hopefully others will get this book.   I havnt not had my surgery yet (date is Dec 13th).
However as I read and research and read/watch others journals of their WLS, I see that it does not fix the spirit of gluttony.
I have read and seen others that had G-bypass and the band, but gain all their weight back and more.  I do not want that to be me.
God said I can be free.  I desire to be healthy and whole...spirit, mind and body... not just body.

Hello Sisters and Brothers in Christ.
Has anyone read the book called "the Diet Alternative" by Diane Hampton.
I've had this book for a while, even before I started the lapband journey, I havnt been banded yet my date is Dec 13th.
eventhough I'm having this surgery I am lead to read this book. It talks about food being bondage, and about prayer instead of eating etc.

Topic: Invest in your future
If we are entrusted with a humungous amount of money would we spend it all at once on every fleeting pleasure or invest at least the majority for our future? I'm afraid I didn't handle my money well. I was fortunate enough to get 2 nice inheritance checks totalling enough to at least buy a newer car. Instead I ended up spoiling kids and grandkids and buying things I hadn't been able to afford before like clothes and shoes. I did pay a few bills but not many. Now as my old car is getting grumpy in it's old age I wish I had spent more wisely. Jesus entrusts us with skills and abilities and we need to use those for our future in heaven. While our talents are limited to this life on earth if we use them wisely they will be an investment in our heavenly future. In whatever we do our eye should be on our eternal future and not on the temporal and limited life here on earth!

God bless!

 Hi Karen,
When Maria calls me, I do not always take her calls.  I have my limits and need to set boundaries.  She keeps making huge mistakes and lacks judgement.  Her impulse control is nonexistant.  She really is a babe in the Lord, not knowing much scripture,

Thanks for praying for us.

Hugs,
Trish

I'm so glad to see you posting it gets pretty quiet here most of the time, mostly just Trish and I. I almost quit awhile back because it just wasn't going anywhere, no one posting but Tri****ook a break for about a week but ya know I just couldn't do it because I kept getting a message from God that He doesn't always get results right away either and to just keep at it, so here I am!

When I first came here about 4 yrs ago it was active and flourishing but the gentleman that was heading it left, got married and started a second family and became a full fledged Pastor so he was just to busy to keep it up I imagine. I'd come here and there hadn't been any posts for months on end and just thought I wish somebody would get this going again. Then God said how bout you lady? Who me?! No, you must mean someone else right?(Sound a little like Moses?) Nope I'm talking to you, that's why I had you teach Sunday school a few years ago! Oh! Okay I'll give it a shot and I sure hope you'll help me! And here I am, sometimes, well most times I take a subject from my Daily Bread booklet and then run with it. I don't even come up with most of the words myself it comes mostly from God working in me. I type and am half way thru before I even know what I'm typing. At any rate I'm grateful to be used of God because I'm so gimped up physically that I can't get around well but I sure can type my fingers to the bone!

Anyway hope you post often and I know there are more out there because some days I see 10 or more hits so all you lurkers come on and join us everyone is welcome we are pretty much non denomonational all tho kinda lean toward the born again side but none the less we welcome everyone. We don't push any one religion and we don't want fights and debates but otherwise all are welcome to share and lend support. we all know the is power in prayer!

Amen to that!  prayer is the key, faith unlocks the the door, and because of the love that God has for us, gives us the grace to make it each and everyday... knowing that He loves us with an everlasting love is so comforting to me.

I know you already know, therefore this is a reminder to you, when your nurses see you they see Him, when they experence your attitude to gratitude they are experiening Him, for we christians are the hands and feet of Christ. For some people, we are the only bible they see.
I've only been on this site for 2 days, but I already love your spirit
