As I have previously posted, I know nothing about the sleeve.  My sister has the band, and has lost nothing, because she does not follow the WLS diet, since she can get away with eating anything.  She drinks sweetened bottled water, and eats desserts when given the opportunity.  Plus, she does no exercise.

No matter what surgery a person chooses, lifestyle changes are mandatory to make it a success.  Diet and exercise are musts for successful weight loss.  The surgery is but a tool to allow the weight loss to happend quickly.

Your doctor should be able to identify the comorbidities you have that make WLS a medical necessity.

Hugs,
Trish

I have always enjoyed waling in the woods, getting close to nature.  I have taken walks out on a country road, and have seen a baby bear followed by its mama.  I have sat outside a cabin in the woods, and watched as deer came into the yard at dusk.  I even was able to walk up to the deer and pet them.  I have hiked down a mountain, and felt the spray of a 90 foo****er fall.  God's creation is one that I am in awe of.  If this beautiful earth is His creation for us sinners, I can hardly comprehend what heaven will be like.

You go girl!! The band is really horrible and I wouldn't wi**** on my worst enemy, just my opinion. Have you posted on the sleeve board? They may be able to give you hints on how to go about making it a medical neccesity. Stay strong cause I know you'll be much happier with the sleeve. Good things come to those who wait!

Topic: Filing An Appeal

I've made my mind up i know it may prolong my process  but i am filing an appeal with my insurance company calling my doctor today to get an appt set to start procedure. I know now that i dont want a lapband and my first choice would be a sleeve. I am asking for prayer during this time to stay strong during this appeal process because i know i still have to not gain weight. I feel this is the best choice for me. The insurance company states if procedure can be proven medically necessary it may be possible to get it approved.

When I had my surgery, I first considered the band, but opted for the RNY.  I have been pleased with this, though I did not reach goal yet, because I relapsed on alcoholism for two years post-op.

I do not know anything about the sleeve.

Trish

There have been time when I have meditated and prayed the last two verses of Psalm 139, the "Search me oh God..."  Passage

I was raised Catholic, and spent from the time I was seven till I was 17 going to confession and doing penance before taking Communion.  I was already used to the confession part of preparing for communion.

Can you even imagine how heaven will be? I live in the Pacific Northwest and to me this area is heaven, the beauty is astounding. Even out my back window I can watch the deer graze and the rabbits hopping around. Even found a bear foot print once! Think of the Grand Canyon or some of the other wonders of the world and then realize that this is a mere comic book of what awaits us in heaven! I know I sooo look forward to being pain free, I'm sure we all have aspects we are looking forward to. However THE most amazing thing will be meeting our Lord face to face and spending eternity with Him! What a life awaits us, certainly gives us something to look forward to!

God bless!

Yes I've gone to the sleeve forum almost daily because that's what I want to revise to if I can ever get bariatric insurance coverage. There are soooo many people that have revised from the band to the sleeve. The band is really pretty useless very few actually succeed and get to their goal weight. I only lost 40 lbs but have gained back about 10 since I had my band emptied.
