From what I understand about your surgery you almost have to force yourself to drink or set a timer to remind you and just do the very best you can. I've also read that sometimes a different temperature of water helps like a little warmer works better than ice cold. And well II never liked the protein shakes just couldn't stomach them. The only thing I found I could get down was the Isopure ready to drink protein in Fruit punch, that was the only one I could get down! Pure protein drinks were OK too but only came in Choc. and Vanilla. I wish you well and soon you should feel much better and remember sip, sip, sip!

I was just checking in to let everyone know that my surgery went great..Thank God! I had surgery on the 12th and was home on the 13th in little discomfort. I am one week out and feeling fine! I am having a little trouble getting enough to drink because I am not thirsty and the smell of the protein shakes make me sick. We any suggestions or questions are welcome.
Be blessed and thank you for your prayers!!!!

I walked on my heel for a while too.  I got pins put in, but they are the kind that dissolve.  It usually takes a full year for them to dissolve. The pain is longer.  He told me he wasn't sure what kind of pins he would need till he got in there.  He was able to use the dissolvable ones with both surgeries.

I'll keep you in prayer.

Hugs,
Trish

PS:  Can you PM me on Facebook with your snail mail address.  I lost it.

Mine is basically hammer toe too but I have pins in my toes for 6 weeks. It's the same thing I had done in Sept but on the other foot. He also shortened my toes a bit because I couldn't hardly find any shoes to wear. My 2nd and 3rd toes were longer than my big toe so shoes were a nightmare, I barely fit in a size 12 womens, not much to choose from there! I can walk on crutches to the bathroom but that's it and I have to keep the weight on my heel, otherwise I have to keep it up. I think I like your surgeon better! This guy is supposed to be the best in western WA so I guess he knows what he's doing and I like him so I'll follow orders.
Have a great weekend!

So sorry your appeal did not go as hoped.  I could not have gotten my RNY without my insurance, which paid 100% of my costs, except the $25 co-pay for the preadmission testing exam.  I am so grateful for that insurance.

I will be praying for you.  I hope your lap-band is successful.  I hit a snag in my weight loss after a relapse into alcohol.  I lost over 100 pounds, but regained 40 during my relapse.  I am back on track, and losing again.

One thing I have learned from my weight loss surgery is that I have to make total lifestyle changes, with diet and exercise, because the surgery is just a tool, not a cure.

God bless.

Trish

 Karen,
Remind me what type of foot surgery you had.  My hammertoe surgery had me resting my pitiful foot for many weeks.  I was bedridden for about four days, but eventually moved out to the living room to put my foot up on the ottoman with three pillows on it.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Hugs,
Trish

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that! Well the band does work for some, you'll have to work very hard but it can be done. One word of caution try to keep your band as loose as you can to avoid being too tight. Being too tight can cause very serious problems. Good luck to you!

Forgot to let ya all know I had foot surgery yesterday so will be resting up over the weekend and hopefully back Mon. All went well and am now stuck in bed for 6 weeks, thank God for my awesome hubby! He takes care of me and goes to his 91 yr. old moms twice a day to get her meals for her. He's a very special guy and I truely appreciate all he does for me!
Hope you all have a great weekend, try not to get in too much of a rush and enjoy the holiday for what it is.

God bless!
