Praise the Lord, I am home. I am so grateful. There was a snag in getting me discharged, but it got worked out on Friday.
I am so grateful for my iPhone, which allowed me to stay in touch while in the hospital.
Thank you for praying for me. I am so blessed.
Hugs,
Trish

Thank you for praying for me. My surgery went well and I am back in my room recuperating. I look forward to going home and sleeping in my own bed with Utley by my side.
God sent several people to come pray with me this morning, including my pastor. It's hard to get to this forum from my iPhone, but I have a Facebook app, so I will update there till I get home.

Topic: Continue prayer
Please continue to pray for Trish as she had leg surgery this AM. Heavenly Father we ask that you would bring healing and recovery to our sister Trish. She has had several medical issues recently and needs your strength and healing power to recover and return to her life and her good buddy doggie Utley. I'm sure he misses her very much. Give her your healing love. We ask this in your precious Son's name.Amen!

Please continue to pray for our sister Trish as she is back in the hospital again, not sure of the issues but I imagine it is still related to her fall and hurt nose and legs.
Topic: RE: Great day
Hi Karen,
I had an interesting day. First, I saw the ENT about my broken nose. He said I could wait until the swelling goes down all the way, and my leg heals, before we discuss any possible surgery. Then I had to go to the lab to get my PT INR drawn. By the time I got home, my wound bled through the bandages I had on my leg. So, I had to change the dressing and wash the Ace bandage.
The rest of the day was spent addressing, stuffing and putting stamps on 83 envelopes for a Special Olympics fundraiser. So, tomorrow, I put them in the mail. Pray we get a good turnout for this event. It's a Polar Bear Plunge, where participants get financial support to walk into the Delaware River in two weeks and go "Freezin' for a Reason." I volunteer by handing out shirts to all of the participants. They also get participants who raise money by being "Too Chicken to Plunge." They even have a shirt for that. Last year it was so much fun. People formed teams and dressed in outrageous costumes to plunge. The organizers provide a heated tent for registrations and handing out the shirts, and two heated tents to change into dry clothes. Fire departments provide a boat with a rescue person in the water in case someone has trouble in the water. Last year we had a bad snowstorm the week of the Plunge, so they had to shovel a path to the river. There was ice on the ground everywhere.
Well, I would appreciate prayer for my recuperation. I have had a low grade fever two nights in a row and my doctor left for vacation today. Argh. So, I have to either call the doctor on call, or go to the ER and let them check me out again. I really hate waiting in the ER. Last time, I sat for two hours before they even gave me a bed. At least I was admitted that time.
Hugs,
Trish

Topic: Great day
What an awesome day I had, a dear friend from years ago stopped by for a visit and I think we gabbed for 6+ hours. We used to be very close and she had some addiction issues but has worked thru those now so hopefully we can resume our friendship. She was a great friend until her issues drove me away. So I hope we'll be able to rebuild what we had before.
So how is everyone elses week going? Feel free to pop in and share the good things in your life or prayer requests if you have them!
God bless!
Karen

I know how great it feels to get back home and to snuggle with Utley again! That's what I missed most too was my doggie snuggle time. Take good care of yourself and take it easy, don't try to rush healing. We will keep praying for your complete recovery!
Topic: RE: Who here has done lap band??
It so unfortunate that so many insurance companies consider the sleeve experimental because it has been done since the 30's or 40's for stomach cancer so it's really not at all new just new for weight loss. I have a brother in law that had it done for stomach cancer and he's still in great shape 10 years later altho he wasn't over weight to begin with.
A volume eater is someone who eats alot of food or more than a normal person. Like 2 burgers, a large fry and large soda. or 2 plates of food every meal. They tend to eat unhealthy food and lots of it. A binge eater can also be a volume eater if they eat alot when they binge. The band doesn't change the brain so if a person has any kind of eating disorder like that then it really needs to be dealt with first with counceling before any kind of weight loss surgery because the surgery can only make your stomach smaller or malabsorb but it can't change how you look at food. That is the reason for most failures the people never deal with what causes them to overeat in the first place.
I can understand not wanting anything too drastic, I couldn't do the bypass myself for that reason and that's why I went with the band but it did nothing it was supposed to do like reduce appetite and feeling fuller sooner. So it's a difficult decision to make and one you have to be comfortable with I just like to make sure everyone knows the band isn't nearly as safe and effective as the manufacturers say it is, it can cause serious problems and even death just like any major surgery. Good luck to you!
