"The genuiness of your faith[is]much more precious than gold." Jesus rebuked the rich man saying it was hard for the rich man to get into the kingdom of God. Money itself isn't a problem it's the love of money that is the problem. Some Christians are indeed well to do financially, but I think they tend to also donate much of that money to worthy causes and other Christain causes. As long as making money isn't more important to you than your spiritual growth and life then it isn't a problem. However if making money is all you are concerned with your spirtual life is going to suffer. So I guess that I should be glad money isn't tempting me because it's always payday to payday around here. Just enough to cover the bills, not so much that it would tempt me to stray. I guess I should thank God for that too. He has supplied our needs but not showered us with extra tempting money. He knows I'd just buy out Michael's craft store of all their yarn!

"I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst." We of all people know what physical hunger is! Satisfying physical hunger is more than easy for most of us especially in this country. However there are millions not just here but world wide who are hungering and don't even know it, no matter how well fed they are physically they often aren't aware of the biggest hunger they have, the need for Jesus Christ who loved us so much that He died for us. He promised us that we will never be spiritually hungry or thirsty. He will always make sure we are full, beyond our wildest dreams. Every person ever born has a hunger that needs filling, unfortunately not all of them know what that hunger is, but we do and it is up to us to share that knowledge and gift. That way they too will never hunger or thirst!

Hi Karen,
I not only love verse 16, but 17 also. "17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
It took me a very long time as a believer to comprehend that these two verses were personal, and not just a blanket over the planet, but that He loved Trish Reilly, and that He sent His Son to pay MY price for MY sins. Not only that, He didn't send His son to condemn Trish, but to save her.
One of the very best things my discipling mentor repeatedly had to remind me was that if I were the only sinner on earth, Jesus would have still died for me. Took a long time for that one to sink in.

I often like to personalize this .... "For God SO loved me that He gave His only begotten Son, that because I believe in Him I will have everlasting life."
I had a disfunctional family, and think that's why it took me most of my life to "REALLY" believe God could love me, but now that I do I stand on His promises (only the best for God's kids) and praise Him everyday...even if it's just "Thank You for another day of life Father".. or "You are So GOOD"!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." How many of us learned that as one of our first verses after becoming a Christian? I remember feeling so special, so loved that God Himself would do that for a dirtbag like myself. Well I know I wasn't really a dirtbag but once you are saved you kinda look back on your unsaved self that way because you just feel so unworthy of that kind of love. Then if you are like me I slowly started feeling better about myself just knowing that God loved me that much.
Even tho I came from a very Beaver Cleaver, pretty normal family with about the best parents anyone could ever want, even they didn't make me feel loved the way God's love did. God's love is so special, no one on earth can even come close to it even if they worked at it all their life. When God loves you, you know you've been LOVED! To sacrifice His only Son and that the Son was willing to die for us is just beyond comprehension. We will never understand it, at best we can appreciate it and want to share it with others. "The Bible is God's love letter to us."

Once we understand and really believe that there is nothing left for us to worry about so we can just enjoy life!

I just "stumbled upon" your forum and I am delighted to see it. Obesity issues are difficult enough, and it is helpful to have this Christian perspective to help us discern God's will. You're right - God will open the doors.....or close them.
Thank you and Bless you!

I love this. I used to catastrophize every little thing that happened, acting as if it were the end of the world. Then, I remember a friend telling me, "Do you think God was surprised when that happened to you?" I had to stop and really think about things. Nothing that happens in my life surprises the Lord. Also, He doesn't leave me alone to handle anything that happens either.
Thanks for the reminder.
Hugs,
Trish

"He who keeps you will not slumber." God is like the ultimate air traffic controller, always there, wide awake and ready for anything that comes along. You moms out there will relate to this, I know I always slept with one eye and one ear on alert! Ready to jump at the slightest noise from the little one. Well mulitply that by a zillion and add in the fact that God is perfect and well we have nothing in the world to worry about do we? God knows all of the impending dangers and is ready to act to direct the traffic of our lives. How blessed we are!
