That's so true! Gosh there is all kinds of info out there but how much is actually of value? Not much I would guess, just knowing info doesn't give it value. Only god can give us wisdom!

It is interesting how the more I experience life, and God's faithfulness through past trials, the more I realize that God has been providing me with wisdom, even when I was not seeking it.  I wonder what would happen if I prayed for it more, and dug into the Word more.  Hmmm.

Have a great weekend.

Hugs,
Trish

Pursuing Wisdom

Proverb 4:5-10

We live in the “Information Age," where news pops up on cell phones and college can be attended online. But I’ve noticed that while there is a lot of knowledge floating around, there isn’t much wisdom. Godly wisdom is the capacity to see things from the Lord’s viewpoint and respond according to scriptural principles. You can’t instantly download that ability, but you can acquire it gradually over time.

In God’s opinion, the most valuable treasure to be had is wisdom (Prov. 8:11). Believers need His perspective and His principles to live the Christian life—that’s why acquiring wisdom is not a suggestion but a command (4:5).

Think back to stories about “Gold Fever" during the 19th-century gold rush. People risked their lives in a single-minded quest for riches. Wisdom is worth so much more than a vein of precious metal. In comparing the two, the Lord calls us to passionately pursue godly knowledge and discernment.

Proverbs 8:17 personifies wisdom, who says, “I love those who love me; and those who diligently seek me will find me." God will see to it that believers who pursue wisdom acquire it. Moreover, when the desire of our heart is something with lasting value, we receive a bonus—knowledge, prudence, and discretion (Prov. 8:12).

The wisest man of the Bible, King Solomon, wrote that the beginning of wisdom was to acquire it (Prov. 4:7). Determine in your heart to pursue this great treasure. As you study the Word, seek the Lord’s will, and observe His principles in action, God will pour wisdom into your mind and spirit.

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

Gosh hate for you to have to change your meetings. Can't you just tell her, sorry you betrayed my trust so don't ask me for any other favors. I hate to see you have to change because of her, unless you're looking for a change anyway, best of luck to you!

When I was a baby Christian, I heard a Christian singer at church, and purchased his album.  One of the songs in it was "Praise the Lord."  One of the lines went, "Praise the Lord.  For the Lord inhabits praise."  It took me a long time to realize how powerful that thought is.  When I am praising Him, He is right there with me.  Then, shortly after my divorce, my daughter gave me Michael W. Smith's CD, "Worship."  My church at that time had traditional worship, but I loved driving down the highway, singing those songs.  I did not get the emotional high.  But, it sure chased away the blues, and put my mind at rest when I sang those songs.

I also have a praise about a dear friend.  She gave birth to her third child last night.  I had an opportunity to help the family by babysitting her older kids this morning.  My sis-in-law had the overnight shift, and I took the morning shift, till Daddy came home to get them to take them to meet their new brother.  This girl has blessed me so much in recent years.  Please pray for Denise and her family as they adjust to their new little one, Andrew James.

Hugs,
Trish

Expressions of Praise

Psalm 34:1-3

Glorifying the Lord is not limited to worshipping in church. In fact, praise ought to permeate the believer’s life.

One obvious way that we praise the Lord is with our voice. We can either speak or sing our worship. Psalm writers put adoration into words and set their love to music. True worship also flows from the mouths of believers who are focused upon God’s attributes. They desire to honor Him because of who He is, what He has done, and what He has promised for the future.

Genuine worship allows the Lord to fill our hearts and minds with His presence. But praising the Lord with wrong motives is an empty act. For example, if we’re lifting our hands and singing loud only because doing so feels good, then what we’re after is an emotional high. That kind of selfish “praise" falls far short of heaven.

Our God is praised when we serve Him. People are created for the purpose of bringing glory and honor to His name. Therefore, nothing should limit our willingness to work for the King, particularly when we have a chance to share Him with others. Christ is honored when His followers speak boldly about His grace and His work—believers’ testimonies are an amazing form of praise that magnifies God’s name.

Jesus Christ is worth more than any treasure this world offers. Loving Him and understanding what He’s done for you should be all the motivation you need to praise Him with your life. Don’t just sing; serve His kingdom and share the gospel. Help to make God’s throne room ring with worship

I am right there with you with Spring allergies.  My sinuses are a mess.  Praise the Lord not only for the meds, but for my prescription plan which allows me to get them at a decent co-pay.

Please pray for me to have wisdom in finding new AA meetings to attend so that I don't have to run into the young lady that called me in the middle of the night.  I hate being used.  I need to protect my sobriety and my social work license.  If a friend relapses and is with me, holding drugs, I could be implicated in the charges, and lose my social work license, just because I was being nice to someone.

Hugs,
Trish

This kinda reminded me of when I first became a Christian and I was going to a fairly conservative church. Years later I went back to that church for awhile and wow had it changed. People were clapping and raising their hands in worship. At first I thought hmmm what's wrong with these people but before you know it I was comfortable lifting my hands up too. It wasn't because I wanted to fit in and be like them but because my heart was so full of joy I just had to! Unfortunately the church I am attending now is also conservative so no one does this and I feel weird if I do it here. But I can only imagine what it would be like in heaven with all the heavenly host praising Him! WOW!
