I agree with Hislady, you aren't helping anyone by hurting your own health. I will be praying for you during this time. I know it is hard. I will tell you that I had my rny on Feb. 8th and I already feel much better and my health has improved. I pray for the same for you!

I have a praise.  I have an interview for a part time social work job at a dialysis center, which should be interesting.  Please pray I am able to dress appropriately with my foot wrapped in the bandage.  I have to cover the bandage with a sock or stocking because it was getting dirty, and I feared an infection would brew.

Thanks,
Trish

I have to praise my dentist, she is so sweet, she knows we are retired and have no dental insurance and she really bends over backwards to help us afford our dental needs. She again came up with a plan to inexpensively deal with my rotten teeth. She is a real sweetheart!

That's on thing I insist on in my budget, the first check I write monthly goes to the church. Once in awhile DH says maybe we should cut back and put it toward a bill and I just have to say no. I know that as long as I return God's money back to His works, He is faithful to take care of all the bills. I just won't compromise on that issue. Of course if He'd like to send the Publishers Clearinghouse folks my way that would be OK too.

I recently got some help with budgeting my money from friends at church.  They helped me view my money differently.  Instead of seeing it as "My money, I earned it."  They said it is "God's money that He is letting me use."  When I view it that way, I begin to see that I can't afford NOT to give to the work of the Lord.  Now, to give wisely.  I believe most of my giving should be to my church.  I also have dear friends who have been on the mission field for almost 28 years.  My daughter spent a summer with them in Tunisia serving as a nanny to their two preschoolers when she was 16.  That gave her a burden for missions.  I also have some young ladies at my church that are seeking to serve Him.  One has been serving with Campus Crusade for Christ, which my daughter was involved with in college.  The other graduates from Bible college this May, and is seeking the Lord's will concerning her future.  I need to pray for wisdom in these matters.

Hugs,
Trish

God’s Financial Best

Malachi 3:7-18

The multitude of Bible verses that speak about money prove that God is very interested in our personal finances. Because this is such an essential element of our lives, He uses money to train us in stewardship, teach us self-control, and test our obedience to Him.

Perhaps the greatest area of the Lord’s testing involves our willingness to give. Old Testament law commanded financial contributions for upkeep of the temple and support of the Levitesserving there. And the New Testament tells believers to regularly set apart a portion of their income for kingdom work (1 Cor. 16:2).

However, fears and excuses sometimes keep us from faithfully carrying out this God-given responsibility. After all, giving away the money we need to pay our bills seems foolish. But the Lord promises overflowing blessings to those who obey Him in this matter. In fact, He invites us to test Him in this to see if He will prove faithful (Mal. 3:10).

By neglecting our responsibility to give to the Lord, we commit four sins. We express unbelief in His integrity and power, ingratitude for all He’s given us, and rebellion against His commands. And since the first part of our income belongs to Him, withholding it amounts to robbing God.

Don’t think that your financial situation will somehow prove too much for God and cause Him to break His promise. The trustworthiness of His Word depends on His character and omnipotence and is unaffected by your monetary challenges. Trust Him and give generously.

I will pray for you for sure.  But, you have to realize that you do have an excuse not to take care of your mother any more.  Your neurosurgeon told you you have to stop.  Your Mom will have to accept that she gets a visiting nurse, and you have to take care of your health.  PERIOD.  Pray for her to understand, and if she doesn't, ask God for the strength to stand your ground.

Sending you lots of hugs.

Trish

Kelly,
I'm so sorry your going through all of this. I will be praying for you. And if its ok I will put you and your family on the prayer chain at my church. I'm kinda surprised your insurance company would do that. I would think that because you started this before they changed the rules you would fall under the old rules. Maybe something you can check in to.

Remember all of this your going through is for a reason. Sometimes we might not understand what God as in store for us. But when he reveils it to us...Its a wow factor!! Try and keep your chin up. You have come this far. Keep on keeping on....You will get there!

Take care
April

I'm so glad hubby and I were on the same page with spending from the beginning of our relationship, neither of us are big spenders. We aren't misers either but we do try to deal mostly with cash. If we do have to make a major purchase like a car or appliance we make sure it is something we can afford and make an exact plan for paying it off. Because of this he was able to retire at 55 and we are basically debt free except for a small balance on our Visa. It is so freeing because we know lots of folks our age that are still up to their necks in debt and will have to work the rest of their lives to make a dent in it. We have no clouds over our head and can breath free thanks to good planning and God's blessings.

Well it never rains but when it pours huh? I'll definately pray for you but you also have to make some hard decisions here. I don't mean to sound harsh but I've been down the ailing parent road twice before they passed away. You aren't helping yourself or your mom by harming your health. You have to tell her she has 2 choices nothing or a home nurse. Insurance usually pays for a good portion of the charge and they can make her do the things she needs to. I'm sure with you she plays the guilt card so you comply with what she wants and she can't do that with a home nurse. There is also the posibility of assisted living my mom was more than happy to go somewhere that took care of all the housework, laundry and meals. There are ways to work financing for that also. You have to take care of yourself and your family before it causes serious problems in your own home. You aren't turning your back on your mom you are helping her take care of herself. Once you can make that decision the other problems will pretty much take care of themselves. God bless and I'll be praying for you, keep us updated!
