I'm not a fan of the 5-day pouch test because after 5 days you can revert right back to where you were!  I recently started going to OA (Overeaters Anonymous) to help me re-gain control over food and eating.  My eating plan includes no sugar, no snacky foods (pretzels/popcorn/chips), no fast food, no second helpings.  I have 24 days of abstinence, and it feels wonderful.  It took me a long time of trying different things to finally admit complete defeat.  I'm a huge supporter of 12-step programs.  I thought GBS would "cure" my food addiction, but it did not.

God has really been speaking to me on the theme of "forgetting."
And this morning, my prayer in the Twenty-Four Hours a Day book says,
"I pray that I may let God run my life.  I pray that I will never again make a mess of my life through trying to run it myself."

I'm with Trish I've not heard of having to be a % overweight except that my surgeon wanted me to be 100% overweight to do surgery on me. In my case my goal weight would be about 150 lbs and 100% of that would be 300 lbs which I made with no problem. As for my insurance they just wanted a certain BMI. I agree with Trish the best thing to do would be talk to your doc or the insurance co. and have them explain it so it's more understandable for you, cause I don't quite get it either. Best of luck to you and so glad to see you over here with us Christian folks, we're all pulling for you!

I agree with the other ladies dump the sugar and most white carby food. I am super sensitive to carbs, all it takes is to give in once and I'm rolling down that slippery slope again.
Carbs in veggies are fine but the processed stuff is what really gets me. I've read where lots of folks found the 5 day test to really help them get refocused so it can't hurt. Good luck to you!

Don't worry about not posting the devotion, you just take care and rest up that foot! If you'd like I'll be glad to do it for the next week so you can relax and visit with the kidlets. That's what's great about our forum we all are more than wwilling to help out!

Yes, sugar is a huge gateway to nibbling and bingeing for me.  When I put it to rest, I do better in all of my food choices, and in the timing of my foods.  I eat better, and would probably be losing weight if I were not retaining water in my swollen leg where I had foot surgery.  My weight is irratic right now because of it.

Hugs,
Trish

Hi Karen,
I'm  sorry I have not done the devotional with consistency.  I have been dealing with a lot of swelling and pain in my foot.  I am not on the computer as much as I would like.

Please continue to pray for my daughter and the grandchildren.  They leave Michigan on Friday morning and will spend Friday night at a hotel in Pittsburgh, where she will see my son and his girlfriend.  Then, Saturday morning they head here, another six hours drive.

I would also appreciate prayer for my foot to heal more quickly, because I would like to spend time with the grandchildren enjoying the outdoors, if it warms up at all.  Right now, we are expecting a winter storm, which has me totally disgusted.  I also missed my women's Bible study tonight, because of the swelling and pain.

Thanks,
Trish

I never heard of that.  It would be best to talk to your surgeon to find that one out.  I know that when you are post-op, the surgeon sets goals for percentage of excess weight lost at each visit.

I thought the insurance compainies looked at BMI and co-morbidities more than anything.

When I voewed to give up sugar, I found it easy to not nibble between meals.  Having restraint in one area strengthens me to say no in other areas,
