I never heard of any of those things.  I do not belong to a denomination, but an independent congregation.

You are welcome to post here, and share your experience and journey with us.

It's so beautiful out I wish I had more energy! I think it is from my lung disease, that I don't get enough oxygen and it makes me tired. Well that and my fibro and the pain meds I have to take for my arthritis. I guess it's a wonder I'm even awake!I have some pulmonary tests to go thru Fri. so would appreciate prayer that they can figure out why I can breath fine when sitting but my O2 level drops when I exert myself at all. From my investigating on the internet it looks like it may be pulmonary hypertension which is OK as long as it helps me breath better. Hopefully I can get on oxygen full time and get the insurance to pay forit. I have O2 a home but need something portable so I can breath when I go places. So pray that they will find a diffinitve answer for me. God bless all! Karen

This is such a good reminder that prayer isn't for God's benefit but for ours! He is still in total control and doesn't "need" us for prayer but we need it to learn from it for our growth.

Praying for your job situation. Is daughter maybe more afraid of having mom around all the time, maybe infringing on their privacy. Not dissing you in any way just maybe there is more to it than you being urbanized. I gotta say after I moved back to the NW from Cali many years ago it did take me close to a year to de-urbanize. The pace of life was much slower and there weren't so many things readily available like in the big city. Took me a long time to just slow down and relax, I was so used to being on the go all the time. It would really be a transition, plus all your support would have to be rebuilt again. Just some things to think about plus politics in a small town are drastically different from bigger cities. Remember turn it over to God and He will lead you to the right path for you, He may have other plans. Best of luck to you whatever happens.

Hi Karen,
Thanks for mentioning my interview.  It went reasonably well, though the woman did point out that I do not have case management experience, and would need training in that.  I won't know for about a week.

Did a dumb thing.  I wore regular shoes, before my podiatrist cleared me for them.  I did not want to wear sandals to an interview, and did not want to wear the boot either.  My tootsies were sore.

Please pray about the job.  I am only supposed to work part time for nine months to test my fitness for the workforce, while collecting Social Security disability.  I do not want to mention to the hospital that I am on disability.  I left there because of my health issues.  I am physically capable of working part time as a social worker.  I just don't want this employer to know I am collecting.  This job could end up being full time temporarily.  I don't want to jeopardize my benefits.  She seemed interested in me working part time on weekends, or per diem in emergencies.

I am really praying that my daughter and her husband ask me to move to Michigan to be full time daycare for my grandchildren.  They rent three houses, and one is next door to them, and one is around the corner, within walking distance of them.  That would be heaven.  My daughter seems to think I am too urbanly liberal to be content living in her conservative, Midwest, smalltown.

Hugs,
Trish

The Impact of Prayer

1 Thessalonians 5:17-18

Prayer is the lifeblood of an intimate relationship with the Father. But believers often have questions about its power and effectiveness. Don’t hesitate to take your queries to the Lord, dig into Scripture for answers, and seek the counsel of a trusted spiritual mentor. Prayer is too important to neglect.

Will God’s plans fail if I don’t pray? God is not subservient to believers or dependent upon their prayers. The time we invest in speaking with Him involves us in the work that He is doing in our lives and in the world, but He will carry on without us.Laboring alongside the Lord is our privilege.

Does my prayer (or lack thereof) impact God’s work? I believe that Scripture indicates the answer to this question is both yes and no, depending upon the situation. There are times when God’s purpose is set. He is in control and has determined the best course. In the Old Testament, the Lord often prophesied what He would do and then brought those events to pass.

In other cases, “you do not have because you do not ask" (James 4:2). There are some good things that He holds bac****il we put out prayerful hands to receive them. But because God is a loving Father, He also pours our blessings that we wouldn’t even think to request.

Believer’s prayers have tremendous impact, particularly on their own faith and life. Do you understand what an awesome privilege it is to kneel before the all-powerful Father and know that He listens and will respond? God loves to be good to His children and answer their prayers.

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

Yes, God is so good to me.  He not only gave me the book, which is just like I am having coffee with a good friend who can empathize with my pain, but he also got me a job interview for a part time job.

I would be working as a per diem social worker at a psychiatric hospital I used to work at as a group therapist.  Please pray for me on Monday afternoon, as that is when the interview is.  I worked there for three years on weekends and during summers, in a different department, doing group and recreational therapy.  Now, I would be doing case management and assessments of new patients.  Pray I get the job, and that I learn the ropes quickly, if I do.

Thanks,
Trish
