Strangest Path To Joy
Thought for Today:
STRANGEST PATH TO JOY
To mourn for your sins is a natural outflow of poverty of spirit. The
second beatitude [Blessed are those who mourn] should follow the first
[Blessed are the poor in spirit]. But that's not always the case. Many
deny their weakness. Many know they are wrong, yet pretend they are right.
As a result, they never taste the exquisite sorrow of repentance. Of all
the paths to joy, this one has to be the strangest. True blessedness, Jesus says, begins with deep sadness. --Max Lucado
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our
sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." I John 1:9 NIV
