God Bless You!!!

Thought for Today: "GOD BLESS YOU" I look back at all the weddings at which I have officiated. I always feel, upon concluding the ceremony, that I must say something really worthwhile to the bride and groom. But when the moment comes, I can say only, "God bless you." It is the one thing that seems to come naturally. And I invariably notice a responsive expression upon the faces of the couple, often a glistening of tears mingled with their smiles, and I am convinced that I have said the right thing after all. It is the same at all the funeral services I have conducted. Again and again, I have tried to think of something helpful to say to the bereaved ones in the final moment of parting. But when that poignant moment comes, there seems to be nothing I can say but "God bless you." And seeing the brave smiles that shine through the tempest of tears, I come away feeling that these simple words are the best thing I could possibly have said. When, with a warm heart, you breathe your blessing upon a friend, you are conscious that some emanation of your personality has been poured from your soul into his. "May God bless you" is the natural expression of all that is best in your heart, and it makes an appeal to all that is in the heart of your friend. As I write this meditation, I think of those who may read it - perhaps a soldier wounded or facing danger, maybe a broken-hearted father or mother, maybe someone struggling with difficulties.
