Getting ready for pureed food and I'm clueless!
Greetings and God's Blessing to one and all.
Tomorrow I start pureed foods. I couldn't wait for this stage. But I am completely clueless as to what to eat beside baby foods. Am I allowed to puree my own cooking as long as I follow a low carb low fat diet? What about salads. Though pureed lettuce doesn't sound so good. Are there any veggies off limits. Also, I am finding that when I eat my soups I can eat about 1/2 cup in about 45 mins. Is that too much? I do get hunger pains too. Though I find after eating I am satisfied and full. And the hunger stays away much longer than b/4 wls. Does anyone else get hunger pains? Just wondering if this is all normal.
God Bless.

Hey Debbie,
I did not get hunger pains at your stage of the game. In fact, it has only been in the last month or so that I have really had them. I am 5 months out. As for the pureed foods, chewing really well is about he same thing so if you wanted to eat salad, I would just make sure to chew it very well. But, you really should get this guidance from your surgeon. You are still just a couple of weeks out. I do remember them telling me not to eat strawberries during this stage. Other than that I don't remember much else. I had a list of things that I could eat and I usually stuck with that.
Funny how eating becomes a scary thing after WLS.
Good luck!
Love, Jacinda
Thanks Jacinda. I believe they told me about strawberries too. They also suggested peeling all skin off of fruit. I am a little afraid of salad, though I am craving one, because maybe to much fiber. Today is the first day so I started with 1 small scrambled egg. Couldn't even fini**** Amazing!!!!! God Bless.

Debbie~
You are finding that you can eat 4oz in 45 mins because by the time you are half way done the food is starting to leave your pouch. It is best in the beginning to measure rather than wait on queues from your body.
I did a google search on gastric bypass diets or stages and found a lot of help. Some things that I can think of off the top of my head are:
LF cottage cheese
FF refried beans
canned tuna
canned chicken
imitation crab meat
eggs (I used eggbeaters)
oatmeal
peanut butter
Hope that helps!!

Dawn the google search was great. I was able to print off diet menus for weeks 1 to 4. Such a great help. Thats also for enlightening me on why I could eat a 1/2 cup. Duh to me. I think maybe part of my brain was bypassed too. lol. I am so excited to know I can have tuna. mmmm. My favorite. Well on to my next stage. Oh by the way, I think I have already reached my 1st plateau. I have been at a 25# loss since last thursday. No loss since then. No complaints though, I lost more that I thought I would. God Bless.

As a matter of fact I am due. So that maybe the reason. Thanks for the tip about the mayo. My tuna was great. It is so cool how food has taken on a whole new taste. I can really taste all the flavors when I eat slow. I also appreciate just being able to eat. God Bless.
