Medical alert Braclets
You may think this is stupid, but I was thinking about getting the medical alert braclet that says "RNY, No NSAIDS, No blind NG Tube and my doctors name and number" on it, but they are a small fortune and I did not know if I would wear it.
There are mixed reviews as to whether you really need one or not as supposedly the NG Tube should not tear through your new pouch any way.
soooooooooo........ I went to Walmart and in the pet department you can have a dog tag made (I know stop laughing) and they have them in the shape of military dog tags that are very sturdy. I had that information put on a dog tag and hung it on my key chain. So if all else fails at least I have something with me. I may get another made and put it on an actual chain to wear in certain situations where I know I may be alone for long periods of time etc.
It is a self service machine that costs 5.00, so I was happy.
just thought I would share.
God Bless.

Hi Kristie. I think it's a good idea to wear something that alerts people to our unique internal hookup. Your solution was pretty creative. Good for you! I just received my MedicAlert bracelet in the mail today. It does cost more money to go this way, but I'm glad I chose MedicAlert because they now have all my records, personal contacts, physician's name, etc. The bracelet I chose is all gold colored titanium and has a gold metal stretch band. It goes with my watch, so I'm happy, and I know I will wear it all the time.
Talk with you again sometime! God bless.

Hey Gals,
I also just got my medical alert braclet about 2 weeks ago. My doctor just said to put "Gastric Bypass" and his name and phone number on it. I got it because being a police officer, there is always the possibility of getting hurt and having to go to the hospital. You are right about the cost. But I went ahead and spent the money. The thing about getting an official medical id braclet is that the paramedics will look for it on your wrist or necklace and they will be looking for the medical id symbol. You can get these from a number of different sources and some are not as expensive as others. I went with Creative Medical ID.com because I wanted something pretty. I got a gold id tag with interchangeable beaded braclets so I can match it to what I'm wearing. I got the gold so it would match my new gold sergeant's badge.

This is off topic but I just wanted to take a minute and thank you, Jacinda for being a police officer. Your duties often go unnoticed and without praise. Well, today you're going to get praise from me. Without you we would live in a dangerous world. Just want you to know that in our house we say "thank you for protecting us" as the squads drive by even though they can't hear us. Thank you for being a police officer. May the Good Lord bless YOU.
peace,
Glenn
Thanks Glenn! It is very nice to know that we are appreciated and that there are other Christians out there who are praying for us. It is not really the big sacrafice that everyone thinks it is though. It is really a fun job and I love it. But all the same. I feel better knowing that people like you appreciate the job and pray for us.
Have a great day and God bless you and your family!
Love, Jacinda
Ok, now you guys are going to think I am a religious far out but when I starting looking for a medical alert braclet I was so turned off by the medical alert symbol (Caduceus) , you know the two snakes intertwined around a staff with their tounges flicking out.....that I did some research on the web and found that it was a symbol from ancient greek mythology and that it had occult roots!!! It really creeps me out. I kind of rebellion against wearing it and instead bought a silver charm with the initials ICE printed on one side and the gastric bypass information on the other side. I.C.E is supposed to be a universery symbol for In Case of Emergency. I admit, it is not so universal!!! Police, Fire and EMT are supposed to know what it means but many don't. The safest thing would be to have the medical alert symbol. What do you guys think? I don't want to convince others not to wear it, I just decided I didn't want to. I resent that as a Christian that I prudently should wear that symbol but I have conviction not to! Nothing should surprise us about the world we live in. I won't be offended by your responses and I pray that I don't offend anyone either. J.Marie
Hi,
I love that you are standing on your convictions. I absolutely respect what you said. I am not attempting to sway your opinion or change your heart ... this is just my opinion.
I do have a medic alert bracelet and am not offended by the symbol. To me it is only a symbol. It becomes something more if I allow it to. Just like anything, it can be made into something with idolism (is that a word) or satanic themes attached to it or it can just be a tool for someone else to use to possibly save your life.
God Bless!
Jen
Jen, I am cool with that! I just wanted to vent!!!! Wear your bracelet with full health. I am such a firm believer that above all else God looks at our hearts. He is sooo into our hearts! Think of all the WWJD bracelets that so many people causually put on their wrists, never honoring the real mind and heart set that God is really looking for, or the cross necklaces that hang from necks stiffened with pride refusing to bow down! He looks for our hearts!! Blessings to you, J. Marie
