Hello, Tonya! Welcome to this forum! I have been here just over a month, and have found some wonderful caring people who will surely pray for you on this issue. I quit smoking about 2 years ago now, and am so thankful, as I just had an RNY done on the 16 Jan. 06. I would not have been able to have even considered it otherwise. At the time I quit, tho, I had not even considered the surgery. I was an off and on smoker for about 15yrs, and had to progressed to 1/2 ppd habit for about 10 yrs..My husband has been a smoker all of our married life (37yrs), and that is hard, too. Always harder to quit with an active smoker in the house. But he has been so good! Never smokes in the house, and doesn't leave cigarettes around, and VERY rarely will ask me to pick up a pack for him. That is so helpful to me, and I have passed the point now of ever wanting to smoke again. Thank-God and praise HIM for that one!!! I don't know what else to do to help you, Tonya, except to say I will promise to pray for you!! God will be the one to give you the strength and motivation. For me, it was my Christian testimony, and my Sunday School class. These were for me what God spoke to me about, and in ernest, and often! After a while, the message was clear, and one week, my pastor asked us to watch his 3 children for about 5 days. These dear children are like my own grandchildren, and also in my class. And for 5 days I did not smoke, andwas so surprised!! Iwas having so much fun with the kids, and didn't think much about the cigs. When the 5 days were over, all I could do was Praise God!!!, and Thank him for his lovely way of helping me through that first most difficult week!! It was not always easy, as you well know, but it did become less stressful as the months went on, and I was just sooo happy to be off them, and so grateful, that I didn't dare pick one up, and didn't. Well that's my story, and I just share it so you will have hope. I know how it is...I had quit on my own before even for months and one year, but this was different when God was in control of it, and I havn't craved whatever it was that the cigarettes gave me in well over a year and a half!! Lord, please work in Tonya's heart and mind and begin you miracle in her life, taking away the cigarettes and healing whatever it is that needs healing, to take away the craving. Speak to her in your own clear and loving way, Thank you Lord, and we praise you for the work you have begun. Tonya, I hope this will be helpful. Please feel free to mail me here at this forum, and I will answer. In prayers for you, and hoping to hear from you again. Love in Christ, Kathy B.
