***THURSDAY'S ROLL CALL***
Hi All~
Good morning, afternoon, or evening depending on when you are reading this.
I would like to start roll call today with the lyrics to the song "Your Beloved" by Mercy me. As you read them, just try to comprehend how truely awesome God is.
"Lord it was you
who created the heveans
Lord it was your hand
That put the stars in their place
Lord it was your voice
That commands the morning
even oceans and their waves
bow at your feet
Lord who am I
compared to your glory Oh Lord
Lord who am I compared to your majasty
I'm your beloved
Your creation
and you love me just as I am
You've called me chosen
for your kingdom
Unashamed to call me your own
I'm your beloved"
Hallelujah The same hands that created the heavens and the oceans, created us...and what are we? Just a few sinners saved by grace; a pile of dust that He breathed the breath of life into. Yet He looks at us as His BELOVED, His CHOSEN. And Glory to God; He does it WITHOUT shame!!!
QOD:
1. What do you do for a living?
2. What was the deciding factor that made you look to WLS?
3. What ministries to you participate in with your church?
~*~*~My answers~*~*~
1. Receptionist
2. When my daughter was just an infant she looked up at me and smiled. I was naked, getting ready to jump in the shower. I remember thinking, "If she knew what she was looking at she would not be smiling." At that moment I made a decision that she is never going to not smile at her mother because of discust or embarrasment of my body.
3. Right now, not too much. We just changed churches. I'm eager to start being active in some ministries soon though.
Love,
Dawn
Good Morning Dawn~
Those were beautiful lyrics. I was thinking about how beautiful all things are this morning as I was walking my DH to his class here in Phoenix. Looking at the mountains and landscape as I walked and just being able to be up and walking with him was a blessing. Praise the Lord for all things, Glory be to Him!!
QOD-
1 - Interior Designer
2 - My deciding factor was just the fact that I am tired of being MO! I have been most of my life and there is just so much that I want to do with my life and I feel that this is not only holding me back, but I am hiding behind it.
3 - I don't participate in any ministries at church and part of that is again I am hiding behind my MO. I am working on all of this though. I am learning more about my walk in the Lord through you and all the wonderful Children of Christ on this board.
Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for me as well as all the people here on the board.
Have a very blessed day!!

Hello everyone! Well, it has done nothing but rain here. I live on a dirt road and we were slipping and sliding all over the place when I took the girls to school this morning.
QOD:
1. I'm a medical transcriptionist. I've only been working for this company for a month and a half. We do medical transcription for mainly Physiatrists and Orthopedic surgeons. We do have one breast surgeon that we type for.
2. A friend of mine up in Chicago had it done and when I asked my dh about it, he wasn't too thrilled with the idea. Then, he started talking to others that had it done and decided it was okay and he would support me if I wanted to go through with it.
3. I enjoy singing in the choir. We just joined this church so we aren't very active as of yet. Maybe eventually. We do really enjoy our Sunday School class and the choir.
Everyone have a great day!
Shel
How did you get into transcription? Do you need experience? I have 7 years experience in the medical field, but I never did any transcription. From what I understand, you can do it from home. Do you get paid per report or per word? How is it working out for you? Would you reccomend others to look into it?
Dawn
While living in Arkansas I got a job with a counseling service doing medical records transcription. It was a regular job where you go to their office and work. When we moved to GA I saw an add in the paper for medical transcriptionists. It is a company based out of CA called PM&R Resources and this part of the company is called Department B Transcription. I think they charge the doctors per line but I don't know how much they charge. We are paid per hour and we keep up with our own hours. It is working out okay I guess. My boss thinks I need to type faster. His ratio is for every 1 minute of dictation it should take us 3 minutes to type. I can do that on some doctors but not on all of them. Plus, since I don't know anything about the musculoskeletal system, I do quite a bit of googling to see if I'm spelling things correctly or just to try to figure out what the doctor is saying. You have to have a lot of discipline and make yourself work since you are working from home. I'm still working on that part. I would recommend it if you are a good typist and would enjoy working from home. I wanted to be available for my girls. My job in AR I had actually gone in to my boss to quit but she kept me part time so it worked out. I worked while the girls were in school. Anyway, speaking of which, I need to get back to work. My boss prefers we get at least 30 hours per week but really wants us to get 40 hours per week. With the holidays it has been really hard to get even the 30 hours per week. One of the ladies that trained with me just finished going to school for medical transcription. I was thinking about doing that when Brian hired me. Have a good day!

Good Morning Dawn and Everyone!
Thank you for the beautiful lyrics to "Your Beloved", I am blessed. It never ceases to amaze me how our Lord rules the universe and yet cares about the intimate details of my life.
I have had so many wow moments this week! I will do another post because this surgery truly has been a miracle for me and I want to share somethings that are going on.
Answers:
1. Wow, first I am a homeschool mom - I've educated my children for 18 years and I love it, I have one 14 year old daughter left at home. I am a Civil Engineer by trade and degree. But right now I am running a beading business along with my oldest daughter. My mother taught us how to bead. She does beautiful work and has won numerous awards and we love beading and we are doing quite well. I am also a fitness trainer at Curves! Yes! Love it! I am very busy!
2. The deciding factor for having WLS was my orthopedic doctor told me that if I didn't get the weight off quickly that I would be looking at total knee replacement. I have had three surgeries on my knees already and the thought of losing my knees horrified me. I love to ski and hike and I am very active so through much prayer and consultation with my husband, pastor, family, friends, everyone and looking into how safe it has become I made the decision. That was in Aug. of this year and the surgery was on Oct. 13th! Everything happened so fast - I think the good Lord didn't want me to think about it too much!
3. I am involved with the women's mininistries at my church. For years that has been my calling - I love to encourage women and spend time with my sisters in the Lord. I also like to get involved with special programs with the children.
God is good! Love ya all!
God Bless,
Lynda
Phil. 4:8
Hey everyone,
How is everyone doing today.
QOTD:
Occupation: I am a patient advocate at a hospital.
Why do WLS: Wow that is a tough one for me...to get 100% buy in from me I had to sit down and write my "diet history". Then it became apparant to me that I had done everything to lose weight, just wasn't very successful. I am a fairly healthy person just extremly overweight. I didn't want to wait until the co-morbidites started creeping into my life. I want to prevent them.
Church activities: We just changed churches a few weeks ago to a brand new congregation. We are meeting at one of the local high schools. We moved churchs becacuse the new one is looking at building a building in my community. It will be so nice to have a church in my community. We are looking at being involved in the youth program, young adults and Bible study programs.

Good morning!
Thanks for the lyrics! It is awesome to be the beloved of the Lord!
QOD:
1. I am a registered nurse and work 40 hours a week at it. For the last 3 years I work in an office and don't interact with patients face to face but I am on the phone with them a lot and also calling all over the place to speak to other hospitals and doctors. Its an interesting job.
2. The deciding factor on me having WLS was when it was getting difficult for me to actually reach all parts of my body for hygiene. I know I was considered a lightweight but due to my body build (long torso but shorter arms and legs) it was already a problem. The 30 pounds I have lost has already made a world of difference in so many ways.
3. I am an active "attender" does that count? Love my ladies Bible class. Quite honestly, all my nursing career until these last few years I worked shifts and weekends and could never commit to teaching a class etc... I try to help in whatever way I can.
Speaking of medical transcriptionist work, My daughter in law took a one year course and is certified. She now does interior design (like where people have bought a new home and the contractor has them meet with someone who shows them options on tile, cabinets etc ) Its odd how we end up doing something entirely different from our training. Like me, I never thought of having a desk job when I was going to nursing school!
Blessings to all!
Gina
Hi everybody. Thanks for sharing those lyrics, Dawn. Oh, how He loves you and me!
It's a beautiful day here in the Portland area. There's a wind blowing, and it was 34 degrees when I left for physical therapy at 9 this morning, but it was oh so beautiful. As I was lying on the bed on the heat, I just praised the Lord for today. He is so good to us. I am so grateful to this wonderful board of Christian brothers and sisters. Just think! We will all get to meet each other someday! Here are the answers to the QOD. Good questions, Dawn!
QOD:
1. What do you do for a living?
I am retired from a local community college. I worked for years as the administrative assistant to the president of one of the campuses. Then I took a position my last 3 years as a program specialist where I helped put together classes for businesses who contracted with us for classes. I worked about 18 years and retired just a little over a year ago when I turned 55.
2. What was the deciding factor that made you look to WLS?
Health was the deciding factor. I think alot of you know I came about having WLS through the back door, so to speak, because I had stomach cancer. My first surgery was in April 2004, followed by my second surgery August 12, 2005. I am so grateful that I have been able to reap the benefits of weight loss through having an RNY! Although I no longer have a stomach, I do have a cute little internal pouch. In fact, it's probably bigger than alot of your pouches. God has really taken such good care of me.
3. What ministries do you participate in with your church?
I belong to a small church...less than 100 people, so I am involved like many of us who go there in alot of ministries. I lead the singing along with our worship team during church. I am on the church council, and I am also on the pastor parish committee. I make it in to Sunday school if we are done practicing our music, and when the ladies' Bible Study finishes their book, I will get back into that too. I really like being involved in what's going on in our church. We are really a family of God.
Love to all of you, and God bless you and your families.
