Wednesday's Roll Call
Well I have just checked and I don't see a roll call started yet.
So I guess I will start it.
My QOD are
1. What is your favorite Christian christmas song?
Joy to the World
2. Will you be spending Christmas at home or visiting someone?
I will spend it at home with dinner at my son and daughter-in-laws house.
3. What is your favorite Christmas memory?
My favorite Christmas memory is recalling all the Christmas Eves we spent at my Grandma Cook's listening to her read her Christmas stories concluding with the narrative of Jesus' birth.
I hope you all have a blessed day!
Kathy from MO
Hi All~
Good questions Kathy!!
~*~*~*~My answers~*~*~*~
1. O Holy Night
2. We go to a homeless shelter and cook them dinner
3. When I was about 12 years old and wanted a bean bag chair for my bedroom sooo bad. Being the nosey thing I was; I found my Christmas presents before Christmas in my parent's closet. There sat a big beautiful bean bag chair!! Christmas morning I got up all excited (knowning my gifts already *wink, wink*) and there was NO bean bag chair!!! I quietly opened my gifts and when I got to the last one I started to get upset. I thought my mom bought it for someone else! Just then she jumped up, ran down the hall, and came back out with my chair!! SHE FORGOT TO PUT IT UNDER THE TREE!!!! I confessed and told her I knew about it all along. We had a good laugh.
God Bless,
Dawn
Dear Dawn,
Thank you ((((hug))))
O Holy Night is another favorite of mine. I sang that song as a solo in a Christmas Program in High School.
We don't have a homeless shelter here in Waynesville - St. Robert but every year on Thanksgiving we help Meal on Wheels to deliver dinners to the elderly.
I really enjoyed your story about the bean bag chair. I could just imagine the disappointment you felt when you didn't find--"the gift".
Praise God for his "perfect" gift to us!
Kathy
Good Morning All~
I am here in sunny AZ. I have to admit that it is a lot colder than I had expected it to be. Spending many quite days right now, today, I think I am going to walk to a flea market they have down the street.
I have to say that I know that the Lord has been with me and my DH on this trip. Every time we stop for a moment and talk, he is in a class all day so we see each other at night, we talk about he song that is going through our heads. It has been a different Christian hymn every time. For us, that is very unusual. God works in the strangest of ways .
QOD...
Favorite Christian Christmas Song...O Holy Night by far.
Where will I be spending Christmas...All over!! Christmas Eve with my parents and sister, Christmas Day with my extended family and then Christmas night with my DH's family. Holidays are spent mostly traveling for us. That's ok for now, we get to talk in between each celebration and praise the Lord for the blessings that we are able to do so. Our dream is to have a home large enough to accommodate both of our families so that no one has to be left out.
My favorite Christmas memory...The year that I got my aunt's 10 speed bike. It was a hand-me-down, but I wanted a bike like her's so bad. It was a very warm Christmas in WI that year. I remember riding the bike home, which was across town, with just my Christmas sweater on and being all sweaty when I got home .
I hope that all of you have the most blessed day. I have been thinking and praying for each of you while I am down here.
Jeanna
Dear Jeanna,
How blessed you are to have such a large family close by so you can visit. It is my dream too. I want a home large enough that all the children can come home and there will be room to play and have fun in the house.
When I was 12, my parents bought a new bicycle for everyone in the family for Christmas. We lived in San Angelo TX and it was warm on Christmas so the first thing we did was go out to test our bikes. It was a wonderful time except for the collision between myself and my middle sister. I still bear the scars on my knees. LOL
Thanks for sharing your story.
Kathy
My QOD are
1. What is your favorite Christian christmas song?
Mine is Joy to the World too. But I also LOVE "Mary's Song" as sung by Amy Grant!!
2. Will you be spending Christmas at home or visiting someone?
LORD WILLING, I will be spending it sipping water, and not eating ! But, I am going to be home-ish. I live in the same community as both parents and in-laws, so we will be in town.
3. What is your favorite Christmas memory?
My favorite Christmas memory is the year my little sister was born. She was a HUGE HONKIN' SUPRISE! My parents had adopted 3 of us as they were unable to conceive. Well, after 15 YEARS of infertility, the Lord blessed them with my little sister. I was 8.
Sarah Elizabeth was born on December, 23rd, we all rushed over after the Christmas Program to meet her for the first time. We opened our gifts in the Hospital. It was just so neat. I remember it so well. My sister is such a blessing and gift. We are great friends now. She is probably my best friend. Thank you God for family!!
Great questions.
Blessings~
Becky
Hi everybody. I am actually writing my roll call in the morning instead of at night! Yay! A friend is coming to visit me this morning. I haven't seen her for a few months, so we should have a nice visit. She isn't a Christian, but I do pray for her. My daughter-in-law had minor surgery yesterday, so my DH is picking up our 4 year old grandson from preschool and bringing him here around noon. He is so fun! I am having dinner with my younger son's girlfriend this evening. They have only been dating for a couple of months, but I must admit that everyone in our family is praying that she is the one! I do leave it in God's capable hands, though. I hope you all have a very wonderful day. Let's all stop from time to time out of our busy day to "Be still and know that I am God."
Love,
Peg
My QOD are
1. What is your favorite Christian christmas song?
O Holy Night and Mary Did You Know?
2. Will you be spending Christmas at home or visiting someone?
Church on Christmas Eve. Church Christmas Day, then to son and daughter-in-law's for brunch and opening presents. Then everyone back to our house for more presents and dinner. Busy days!
3. What is your favorite Christmas memory?
Hmm. This one was tough because I had just pieces of this Christmas and that Christmas. One little snippet is of my son Mark and me decorating the tree. We have some "throw" ornaments...ones you just kind of throw at the tree and they stay where they stick. Well, here Mark and I are laughing as we have our backs to the tree, and we're just heaving the soft ornaments behind us, then looking to see where they landed. Now, you have to understand that not ALL of the ornaments landed on the tree, so then we got to do it over again. It was a really wonderful time of sharing with my son. I thank God for family.
Dear Peg,
I hope you had a great visit with your friend today. I had a pulmonary doctor appt. today and my youngest daughter accompanied me so that she could visit with her friend who lives close by the medical center. They hadn't seen each other for a few months either. It sounds like exciting times are in store for your family. I will pray along with you that the Lord's will is done in this matter.
What a wonderful Christmas memory!! I have never tried that but it sounds like fun. My step-son was telling me this evening that their Christmas tree was decorated by their nieces. He asked me if I noticed anything strange about the decorations. I did not notice anything at first but when you looked closer you could tell all the decorations were placed at the nieces' heights. He said they were not going to move the ornaments but leave the tree as it is. What a kind and thoughtful uncle!
Please pray for him and his wife. They are still unable to have children and they have been married 10 years.
Have a joyous Christmas season,
Kathy
Good Morning Kathy and Everyone!
Another beautiful, fridgid day here in the West! God is so good! Tonight is our family ornament exchange and I am busy finishing up my granddaughter's beaded angels. We all have memory trees and each year when we bring out the ornaments we talk about the memories associated with them. Everything from homemade ornaments to souvenir ornaments - my husband and I will be putting a 25th wedding anniversary ornament on this year! Anyway I am looking forward to tonight's festivities!
Answers:
1. O Holy Night (seems to be very popular)
2. We will be spending Christmas here - I am praying my father and mother will be able to come - we will know by then if my father's cancer treatments have been affective (thank you for your prayers). All my children will be here and their spouses and my granddaughters!
3. Favorite memory - wow, this one is really hard because there are so many! But I would have to say the Christmas time before I graduated from college. I was a baby Christian and my now husband took me out on a date before Christmas break and it was snowing and we went for a walk and he declared his love for me. I remember standing in the beautiful falling snow and hugging him and thanking God for this godly man. He loves the Lord so much and he was such a gentleman - he didn't kiss me until he asked me to marry him a few months later. But I could remember that whole Christmas feeling like God had something or rather someone very special for me!
Ok, now I need to gather myself - few tears there. I pray you are all enjoying your Christmas preparations - I am! Love ya all!
God Bless,
Lynda
