Hey everyone, I am 2 yrs post lap rny and have developed stomach & back pain that has gotten worse over the last several days. I had an episode about 6-8 months ago and went back to my doc. He scheduled me for a gallbladder ultrasound, which by the time I had it done I was feeling better and it did not show any gallstones. He gave me nexium & pepcid and it got better. He mentioned that it could be an ulcer but since the pain went away we did not do anything else at the time. But now the pain has returned, I have started the nexium & pepcid but it seems to be getting worse. It does help a little when I eat (that's weird). I am trying to go back to a bland diet and did not drink any coffee today but it has not helped. Please let me know if you have any suggestions, because I really don't want to travel 3 hrs to Birmingham to my doc to not find out anything again. He said he could do an endoscopy but doesn't really want another doc going down into my stomach. (and besides I don't have time to be sick )

Hi Georgina. I have had ulcers, I don't remember my back being involved...just my stomach and throat areas. I think that if in doubt, get it checked out. Good luck and let us know how you're doing. I'm praying for you. Peg

Thanks Peg, I think I am going to call my doc tomorrow, my husband is making sure of that I just don't want to take the time off work to travel 3 hrs. Thanks for praying for me. Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow and the pain will be gone. God can do that!! Praise God! May God Bless you! Georgina

Georgina, I had to have my gallbladder out in 1998. The pain came in intense episodes and would go away for weeks if not longer. Go to www.webmd.com and search "gallstones symptoms" it will give you a list. See how many things you have in comparison. If you are tested after your symptoms go away, it will always come back neg. for gall stones. My friend went through 2 years of severe pain and vomiting until she convinced her doctor it was her gallbladder...and she was right. God bless, Dawn

Thanks for your response. From all that I have read it talks about nausea & vomitting, I haven't experienced either. I will call my doc today. Thanks alot. Have a blessed day! Georgina
