Feeling so much better....
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT~ oopps, got my stories mixed up.
Thank you for all of the prayers~thank you for all of the suggestions. I tried the warm tea~ it felt so good on my new little pouch. She settled right down. I stopped foaming, and felt so much better. I am not going to try to push the fluids to get 64oz's in ~ It's just not possible! I stopped the isopure. It makes me to sick. I started drinking plain 'ole water. I am able to get about 24 oz's in, and that takes all day and most of the evening. I can get in about 3 oz's of very warm tea in the late evening. It takes a while but, that just really does the trick. I was supposed to advance to stage 2 diet full liquids, thined out cream of wheat, low fat yogurt, S.F. puddings, Cream soup's made with F.F. milk. I'm not ready for that yet, so I'm not going to try to pu**** I am getting my vitamins in. It say's in my blue barri binder, that we may become intolerant to milk and sholud try F.F. Lactaid, My daughter bought some for me ~It has 12 g. of sugar! Why would they suggest that? Maybe I'm missing something here? Can't wait to get on the scale next Wednesday. I you guys you're the best.
God bless you all,
Annette
Annette, I am so glad that you are feeling so much better. Hot decaf tea really helps me too! It was soooo nice not overeating today!!!! Have you tried any Crystal Lite drinks? I'm enjoying drinking those. I am so glad that the hot tea helps relax your pouch so well. That's what it does for mine too. God bless you! Love, Cindy
Hi Cindy,
It is so good not to eat let alone not over eat. I feel so blessed! I have tried the Crystal lite drinks. I can't seem to tolerate any thing sweet any more. Everything tastes like syrup to me now. The only thing I have been able to tolerate is the water and green tea, tea bags -hot. Everything else makes me sick. I'm telling you I feel so blessed with that tea. I'm glad the tea helps your pouch too. Are you eating regular foods now? If so how long did it take before you could eat? How long did it take you to be able to eat the soft foods like the yogurt, and puddings? Mashed potatoes? How about refried beans or chili? Have you gotten that far yet? I have been craving chili with cheese, and refried beans with cheese, and carrots of all things.
I just don't want anything sweet~out of character for me. Thank you Jesus! I've rambled enough here. Glad you enjoyed your day~ without over eating ~God is so good!
God bless you Cindy,
Annette
Annette, Yeah, when I mix up the Crystal Lite drinks in a pitcher, I have to add a little more water than normal to water it down more so that it isn't so sweet. Yes, I have been on regular foods for 2 weeks now. My doctor had me on soft foods like yogurt, refried beans, cheese, mashed pototoes, pudding, oatmeal, cream of wheat, applesauce, strained cream soups & baby foods right out of the hospital. Everything, like beans, had to be pureed. Now I am able to have most anything except veggies have to be cooked, no raw yet, and no skin on fruits or potatoes. I am to have 2 oz of a protein at 3 meals a day. Then at breakfast I am to have 1 oz of a starch (potatoe, saltine crackers, sweet potatoe, SF dry ceral), at lunch I am to have 1 oz of a fruit, and at supper 1 oz of a veggie. Everything has agreed with me that I have eaten. PTL!!! When do they move you to the next phase of foods? Things really real start to get better!!!! I am praying for you! Love, Cindy
Dear Annette,
I am so thankful you are feeling better! These first few weeks after surgery can be rough and experimental. I am 6 weeks out today and I still haven't figured out what my pouch does and does not like. I'm still struggling with my water too - I am getting more and more in but I need to take the Calcium Citrate and if I'm not drinking enough water the calcium could create kidney stones. So I'm trying really hard to get that 64 oz. in. I think we are all different in what we can tolerate too - I have been having roast beef and nuts - no problem but cottage cheese makes me sick. Milk sometimes yes and sometimes no. I hope at some point I can get this figured out. In the mean time I am going to Praise God because this surgery has been a Godsend! I will be praying for you! Love ya!
God Bless,
Lynda

Hi Annette. I am so glad you are starting to feel better. Hot tea is still one of my favorite drinks, and I am 3 1/2 months out! I'm still working out bugs as I go along. Water especially is a little tricky for me. I can take little sips, but if I drink it too fast, there is nowhere for it to go but up! I am so grateful for each and every day. God bless and keep you, dear friend.
In Him,
Peg
Hi Anette, I'm a day late on responding but I am glad you are doing better and have found something that relaxes your pouchie. I still don't have it all figured out either (almost 5 weeks out) but I am so thankful that I tolerate milk. Skim milk with my protein mix is my breakfast each morning because I just can't seem to eat food that early. I am sooo in agreement with you all who are saying how good it is not to overeat at Thanksgiving. That was one of my top "thanks".
