Prayer Request
Hi Everyone,
Please pray for my father, Bob, - he has been struggling with cancer for several months and is just about to the end of his treatment. We will find out around Christmas if the treatments have worked or not. He has always been a strong, vibrant man and this cancer and treatment has left him very sick and weak.
The Lord has been softening his heart and he sends me the neatest emails. I love him dearly and he has been one of my biggest supporters with my WL surgery. I wasn't going to have it with him being so sick and he told me that my health would better if I did and that I would be a better help later. He was right. Anyway, here is the lastest story he sent me. Thank you for your prayers. Love ya all!
God Bless,
Lynda
Phil. 4:8
Malachi 3:3 says: He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver
This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this
statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women
offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the
group at the next Bible Study.
That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch
him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest
beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched
the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat
up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in
the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all
the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot then she thought
again about the verse that says: He sits as a refiner and purifier of
silver.
She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front
of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered
that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to
keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the
silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The
woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you
know when the silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her;and answered,
"Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it."
If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His
eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.
Pass this on to everyone you know. Right now, this very moment, someone
needs to know that God is watching over them. And, whatever they're going
through, they'll be a better person in the end.
Life is a coin. You can spend it any way you wish, but you can only spend
it once.
Lynda,
I am praying for your father, your family and for you. I went through this with both of parents. I know the struggle you go through. I also know that when my mother was ill, I was not a christian and when my father was ill I was. The difference was immeasurable. I found comfort and peace in Christ. I realized that although I may not get what I want, I have to trust Him because He knows whats best.
Your Dad sent you a wonderful story and I have used one similar to it in a Discipleship class that I teach at my church. It is so comforting to me to know that He keeps his eyes on us when we are going through the fire. He will not let us go!
May God bless and keep you,
Sandy
Thank You Sandy. God is good and I know that He has my father in His hands but more than anything I am praying for his salvation - not sure where he is at with the Lord even though we have spoken many times about God and the gospel. He is a loving man but he has a lot of pride but I really see God breaking down the barriers. Love ya and thanks again for your prayers!
God Bless,
Lynda
