Prayer Request - Me and My Family
Hello:
Normally, I am a lurker around here but today I have a special prayer request. Last week, I found out that I was approved and have my surgery set for 12/16/05. This is like my 3rd approval in 3 yrs. I have backed out once and switched jobs right before I got approved with the other 2 times but this time I am going for it. My family knows that I have been researching surgery for the past 3 years but for some reason they can't except the fact that this is truly what I want to do. My oldest sister had the surgery this past year and she was not too fond of me having the surgery a year ago but she decided to have it herself. My parents were never hard on her and never questioned her judgement for having the surgery but for some reason I feel that they are coming on me hard about my decision to have the surgery. My parents and sisters are really all that I have besides my daughter. I am a single mother so I am pretty much doing this on my own and if I don't have my parents support, I don't have anyone. Just yesterday at church, my parents and I got in an argument about the surgery because a friend of ours at church has had the surgery and he was discussing it at dinner and my parents didn't like the fact that we were talking about the surgery at that time. They felt that it was inappropiate discussion. My friend had just had it 2 weeks ago and is doing really well and he was just sharing his excitement with me which gives me motivation and inspiration to hear. I am asking that you please pray for me and my parents so that in a little over a month I can get the support that I need to make this surgery a success. Thanks
Janae, You and your family will definitely be in my prayers. You really will need their support while going through this. Be sure to keep the lines of communication open with them and tell them how much you will need their support. I had the surgery almost 6 weeks ago. I have been dealing with some issues that put my in the hospital for 17 days. During that time my mother (who was against the surgery in the first place) never left my side. This whole experience has brought us into a much closer relationship. Not once did she ever tell me "I told you so". She just stayed with me and suffered with me. I am so grateful to have had her there. I will especially pray for your parents that they will be able to accept the decision you have made and that they will be as committed to you and your health as my mom was to mine. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. And, welcome to the board!
Love, Jacinda
My dear JaNae, I understand exactly how you are feeling. I will have my surgery this Wednesday Nov. 9th. I just got done talking to my parents yet again. They are totaly againest me having this surgery. Even though my husband had it done six weeks ago and has lost 70 pounds and is feeling wonderful. My sister is looking into this as well, but my parents don't seem to mind her having it. I explained to my parents that this is for me not them. I need to be healthy for my kids. I want to be around for a long time. I love them(my parents) I understand there concerns, but I need your support. And I will have my surgery with it, or with out. They said that they understand and will support my desision.
I will pray for you and your parents. All will be well.
You have all the support of your OH friends. I also will be praying that the Lord break down those walls of confusion in your families hearts. They are confused sister. My dad was he didnt know to much about the surgery and didnt want to support me either, but I prayed that the Lord break down HIS wall of confusion and my dad even paid the $250.00 that needed to be paid for my co-pay.I tell you and I always say this! GOD IS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you the baby of the family? Or maybe they are thinking about you kids, who know sister but I will pray for you and yours. Promise.

Well there you go! They don't want anything to happen to their baby! Not that anything well happen to you! My daddy was there taking turns with my husband as they preped me. While putting in the I.V. they couldn'y find a vein and were hurting me,my daddy told them to get away from me!And told them to find some one else to do it. You see I too am the baby of the family.Keep us updated girl and God bless you.
