***Wednesday Roll Call***
Good morning everyone,
I got released from the hospital yesterday and I am feeling pretty good but extremely tired. All that time I prayed to get well and go home. I should have been praying to get well and go to a CLEAN home! My house looks like the laundry hamper and the dish washer ran around the house and on everything. I am just going to have to let it go for now. I am way to tired to clean this mess up myself. Hubby is going to have to help.
Anyway, I am feeling very blessed today. I have so much to be thankful for...all the many people who have been praying for me, my Mom, my husband, my kids, my mother-in-law, my home, my bed...I could go on forever. God has been so faithful to me and has truly showered me with His blessings.
Shel, you hang in there with that job. I know you're doing great. Will you get to work at home after the training is over? That would be such a blessing. I would love to work from home. Also, thanks for the advice about the protein. Im glad to hear from someone who actually did dump the protein drinks.
Cynthia, it sounds like you are doing well also. Thanks for posting and letting us know how things are going.
Peg, How are you doing? You are always to positive everytime you post. I love your new picture. It is amazing with all that you have been through that you keep such a positive attitude. How different is it with your little homemade pouch? Does that restrict your diet even more or are you able to eat normal things?
Ginakay, it sounds like you are doing pretty well too for just a little over a week out. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.
Cindy, I was getting worried about you but then I went and read your profile and noticed that you had posted on Oct 30. So hopefully you are doing well and are still at home.
Annette, I am praying for you and your upcoming surgery. I will also pray for your nerves and that God will show you His will in this matter. If you do have the surgery, I KNOW that He will be with you the whole time and He will use it to His glory.
Have any of you guys noticed all the new reports about Gastric Bypass Surgery and how they are now saying it is more dangerous than previouly thought? I think this is so ironic seeing these things a couple of weeks after surgery. They were talking about how something like 1/3 of people who have surgery will be back in the hospital within the first 3 months. I guess I fell into that group. I still have a ways to go before the 3 mo. mark and I am praying that my hospital stays are over! I pray the same for all of you who are recently post op or about to have surgery. Well, I am going to go . They only had showers at the hospital. Then I think I will and try to get my strength back up. I will throw in a walk today at some point. Its pretty cool here today so i figure I can do it any time today and not have to worry about it getting too hot.
I hope everyone has a Jesus filled day! We serve an AWESOME God!
Love, Jacinda
I am totally hogging the board today but I have a quick praise! My dumping is over and did not last that long (about 30 miserable minutes). AND I just put on a pair of my old jeans that I have not been able to wear for several years!!! Size 18! Who would've ever thought wearing size 18 jeans would be a praise??? They fit just about right...maybe a little snug but not that uncomfortable. Sigh! I guess its moments like these that make it all worth while. Praise the Lord!
I hope you are all having a Jesus' Joy filled day!
Love, Jacinda
Jac, so glad you are out of the hospital and back home. Boy can I identify with the "clean house" remarks. This last week my sweet hubby has really done a lot and waited on me so I did not have to get up so much. But on Saturday I finally cleaned the kitchen a bit, just taking my time. Could't take it any longer .
Got my staples and drain out today. Also weighed in at 9 pounds less than before surgery!!!
On the diet thing....I'm still supposed to be on clear liquids until this coming Saturday but I just got so sick of the utterly boring liquid diet that I had been eating a bit of oatmeal here and there. And today prior to going to my appointment, I got a side of guacomole at Taco Villa and ate a bit, just the pasty parts, not the onion etc...boy was that good and just a few bites was all I needed. I was sure glad the office nurse did not quiz me on IF I had faithfully followed the post of diet plan. I have followed it pretty closely but not 100%. Took a two tiny bites of Steve's baked potato the other night and just little things like that. (confession time!).
Hope everyone will soon be past the nausea and other side effects. I think I read that about 20% of WLS patients experience nausea and vomiting but for most it is over by 3 months out. I still haven't tried eggs or some other things that you all are doing so have no idea how I will do with that. I am wondering if it is a certain time of day that you find worse than others, or just particular foods etc.... Appreciate your sharing, as we can all learn and hopefully be supportive as well.
Blessings!
Gina
Yay, Jacinda! I am so glad you made it home! What a wonderful answer to prayer! I pray that the rest of your recovery will be smooth sailing for you. I'm sure your DH is glad to have you home. It is such a worry for family when we aren't well. Now you can gently guide him in the things you need him to do around the house. Hopefully the kids can help too.
Thanks for including me in your note. It made me feel so loved and cared for. I saw my new PCP today. My DH has been going to him for about 20 years, and I finally decided to meet the man. Nice Dr. Very thorough. He is going to take care of my healthcare needs from now on even though I do see my surgeon again in a couple of weeks. My PCP recommended that I have 4 different shots...one of them, the pneumovax, I already had before surgery. Anyway, I rolled up my sleeves and had two of them today...the flu shot and a meningo****al shot. I go back and get another one the next time I see him. He said that since I had my spleen removed, I need these shots. He also will take bloodwork next time to check on my B12 levels, anemia, etc. The other thing I am so relieved about is that he is sending me to physical therapy for my bum left shoulder. It has really been bothering me for about 6 months, and I need it fixed so that I can start sleeping in a regular bed again.
The good news is that God is so faithful. He has been with me every step of this long journey toward recovery. I'm so glad He has been with you too, Jacinda. What a friend we have in Jesus. Take care, Jacinda, and get well.
Love,
Peg
