Let the Seed Lead
"Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. . . . God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:6-7).
Winter is near and cooler weather is here, lethargy and depression are common in the winter months. We turn on all the lamps to create a false sun and push the thermostat up a little. We open the blinds in the windows to get in all the light we can from the sun. We sigh and long for spring. Then in January the seed catalogs start arriving. Of course it's too early to plant garden seeds, but it's just a right time to plant seeds of encouragement in other people. It's time to get out the address book and look up people who have blessed our lives. It's time to invite a friend over for an evening of quiet conversation or to welcome a child for a good book and a snuggle. By encouraging and loving those around us we ensure that God will bless our lives with His encouragement and love. Do a good deed for someone sick, visit someone in the hospital, help someone who don't have money for a Thanksgiving turkey, buy someone a cup of Coffee. Giving and sowing can be done in so many areas. Just be sure to give. Give with a right heart and right attitude. If you give grudgingly, God see's that. If you give cheerfuly, He see's that too. He loves a cheerful giver who shares His blessings with love and grace. Remember, the seed must lead. Scatter seeds with a generous hand.
Hey Randall, your posts are always a blessing. Thanks for doing it everyday. I was reading your profile earlier and noticed your recipes for the puree stage. I'm going to try to do purees again just as soon as I can get outta this hospital...probably tomorrow. I noticed that you had hummis on there. I LOVE hummis! Did you have any problems with it? Did you eat it straight or with a cracker? Did you get regular hummis or some low fat version? Also, I love refried beans and your recipe sounded really good. How did that go down in the early days? Thanks for your help!
