I am new to this board having just found it and am in desperate need of prayers. My surgery is Nov 7 and I have to be smoke free by next week. I have been smoking for over 20 yr and as some of you may know they say smoking is as hard to get off as heroin! I have been struggling for 2 months with this. It wouldn't have been so bad except my surgeon also wanted me to lose weight at the same time! I have always used cigarettes to try and keep my eating in check. Now I can't eat and can't smoke and can't drink diet coke and I'm pretty much down and out. When you say your prayers tonight would you please include me? Cindy

Cindy, I will be praying for you. Be sure you are ready before you have your surgery. It is so hard for even the healthiest of us. I cannot imagine trying to battle a cigarette addiction at the same time. I understand you being down and out. This is a tough road we are travelling. But know that our Lord and Savior will be with you every step of the way. All of us here on the Christianity board will be here with you also, lifting you up to th Lord. Please feel free to join us on our daily roll calls and let us kno how you are doing. Love, Jacinda

Hi Cindy, will you look at that another Cindy S. That makes three on this board alone~kind of cool ~. The hardest thing I ever had to give up was cigarettes! I came off the drugs and alcohol easier than the cigarettes! Praise The Lord I would not have been able to quit any of it with out The Lord being right in the middle of it. He brought me through. Please Cindy stay in continuous prayer about this He will bring you through it. It may not be easy but it does get better. I found that chewing on nicorette gum helped me get through the really hard times (it tastes like black pepper). If you use this tool be sure to squeeze it between your gums as low as you can get it, and chew it every few minutes then change the place where you put it at your gumline make sure you squeeze it. It helps a little, but you will still go through the withdrawl process. God will bring you through it~dont give up or lose hope. God bless you, Annette

Cindy just wanted to let you know I put up a pray for you the moment I read your request. I am a reformed smoker and know how difficult it can be. Just remember, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD!!! If this helps, when the urge comes, just throw up a pray to the Lord. I call them stick men prays. Usually I say "Lord just for this moment, please get me thru this" He truly does gives us the desires of our hearts. I hope this helps. Also, as I pray again tonite, I will ask God to give you all the indurance that you need to get thru these next few weeks. In His love and mine, Debbie a.k.a. momonthego
