How does it work?

I had my sleep study last night. I don't know how this could possibly tell them anything. They connected 17 wires to my head, face, neck, and side, then put two belts on me. One around my abdomen, and the other under my breast. I kept getting tangled in all of the wires and couldn't get comfortable for anything. My sleep was so restless (not that , that is anything new) But I could hardly sleep at all. When I finally did fall asleep, someone came into the room because a piece of equipment fell off of my finger. For the first time in my life I didn't snore! I honestly don't know how they could get anything from that. It takes two weeks to get the results back. Oh well. Another thing done, one more to go. God bless, Annette

I'm not really sure either. My husband has sleep apnea pretty badly from what I understand and uses a CPAP every night. I could feel him stop breathing at night. I kept on him until he finally had a sleep study done. A friend of ours who is a nurse told him that they had someone come into the ER who had died from sleep apnea and he was only 49. That scared my husband enough to go to the doc. He just called a few minutes ago and told me his mask broke, so now we have to figure out how to get him another one. His doctor is in AR and we are now in GA. Oh well. Just something else to worry about. lol At least that is done for you and means you are one step closer. God bless!! Shel

Shel, I'm sorry to hear that your husband broke his mask. Do you have insurance? Maybe you could call them and tell them what happened, and ask them where to go to get a new one. He has to have it Shel. God bless, Annette

Yes, we have insurance. Paul is going to call them and ask where there is a medical equipment store close to us that is on our insurance and then call his doc in AR and see what he can do for us. I do worry about him without his mask. He said he has "fixed" it good enough to use. It just scares me if he doesn't have it. He has gotten so used to it now that he has a hard time sleeping without it. Anyway, have a good day! Shel

Annette, I can so relate. I had some strange contraption stuck up both my nostrils too! Talk about impeding your breathing ability. But the tech assured me that as uncomfortable and strange as it seems, they can track everything once you fall asleep, though it may be short amounts of time with all that stuff attached to us. My results show that I have mild apnea, but nothing that weight loss won't heal very quickly.
