Small Groups
Our church encourages small groups and after looking around a bit we decided to start a new one in our rural area. Last night was our first meeting and we only got 4 people but we had a blast. We followed a guide and DVD "Connecting With God's Family" and it was easy and very simple. I was just wondering if anyone else was using this type of format? And are small groups popular in your church or community?
Peace and Love,
Glenn
Hi Glenn! Our church IS a small group!!! We have been meeting in our home with a group of people for over two years now. Our son has been a lisensed pastor for three years and recently received his ordaination papers. We have been looking for sometime for a place in town, but nothing has opened up yet. God bless! Cindy
Hey Glenn. Our church has started the small groups and they are really working well so far. We have 3 going on right now. Different venues, but still involving the community and getting them to come out. One of the small groups is for people that enjoy scrapbooking. I believe the saying that if you mess around a muddy creek bank long enough, you are going to slip in. If we get them to come to small groups like these, they will eventually come to church. I cook for our church on Wednesdays and we open this meal to anyone. We mainly target the kids in our community, but we have adults that come too. We have several Mom's that come and eat with their children, then leave them for church and come back to to pick them up or let them ride the bus home. We won't turn them away! Like I said, if they mess around the creek bank long enough, they'll slip in. Great to hear your church is doing them also. Hang in there! It'll grow. God's involved and centered around it so it has no choice! God bless ya my Brother! Randall
Glenn;
We are studying "40 Days of CommUNITY" at our church right now and putting lots of focus on our "small group" study and fellowship as well as finding a project in which we can reach out to our community together.
Our Sunday school class is our "small group".
I'm really enjoying getting to know everyone better in this way.

Aloha Glenn, I love small groups but our church does not really do them. The last small group I attended was a group called "40 days of purpose" last May. We studies this series that really had us examine what God's purpose was for us. It was a lot of fun and everyone always brought really good food. I happy to see that you are pursuing this in your area. Hugs
