QUEEN JAMES REPORT: Celebrating The Life And Legacy of Ronald Winans
The Celebration of Life services for Ronald Winans will begin this evening (06-23-05).
Ronald Winans, the second eldest of the ten siblings, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of June 17. The entire family gathered together at Harper Hospital
in Detroit, Michigan to be with Ronald until his final moments.
Winans, who was to turn 49 years old on June 30, was part of the quartet,
The Winans. Ronald kicked off 2005 with the released his final CD,
Ron Winans Family & Friends V: A Celebration which was recorded live
at Greater Grace in Detroit.
Gladys Knight, Rance Allen, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Marvin,
Bebe and Cece Winans are some of the family and friends celebrating
the goodness of Jesus Christ with Ronald.
In the midst of unexplainable sadness the Winans family is thankful to God
for giving Ronald a second chance before calling him home.
In 1997 Ronald Winans endured a massive heart-attack, but because of much prayer
he experienced a miraculous recovery after the doctors had given him up for dead.
God for spared Ron's life and granted the beloved Winans
with 8 more years of life.
CeCe Winans dedicated a song on her critically acclaimed Throne Room CD
to her big brother Ronald. Mercy Said No is a true testimony of how God
can raise someone from the dead. CeCe and I talked about God's mercy.
Queen James: Cece will you share the personal testimony behind your Throne Room
song Mercy Said No?
CeCe: When I heard that song and I think when anybody hears it their going to think
about the goodness of Jesus because we know that without the mercy of the Lord
none of us would be here. We're not here because we deserve to be here or
because we've done everything right. We're hear because Mercy Said No.
When death came for us Mercy said no, no, no I'm giving her or him another chance.
Queen James: Mercy Said No is a tribute to you brother Ronald. You dedicated this song to him after God gave Ron another chance after he suffered a massive heart attack back in 1997.
Cece: I've told the story and I told the Lord that if He saved Ronald I would tell it
for the rest of my life and I guess that's what I'm doing now.
It was such a spiritual warfare in that hospital when that doctor told us that we
had lost Ronald. I had never experienced something so intense before where
you didn't have the feeling of you shouldn't give up but you had
the feeling of we've got to fight. You know we've heard the bible stories we've been
taught all our lives, now it's time to put it to the test. Are we gonna trust God?
Are we gonna believe Him for the impossible?
Do we believe he can raise people from the dead?
Queen James: How did you and your family handle this life or death test of your faith?
CeCe: As a family we came together. Not just us but all of God's people who
we called on to pray. You could feel the strength from the body of Christ.
It was the most awesome experience I've ever had in my life but yet one of the worse.
It's a fact that when we go through the fire God proves Himself in ways we never thought.
We were praying that the Angel of Mercy would cover Ronald and would give him
another chance.
Queen James: What effect did that experience have on you?
CeCe: It changed me forever because when you see God raise somebody
from the dead then you realize that your headache is not a problem for Him;
that whatever you're going
through on the job, that He can fix it. So it took me to another whole level
of faith that I know I wouldn't be at if I hadn't had that experience.
God has been raising his children from the dead during the Old Testament,
the New Testament, and Now. From Hezekiah to Lazarus
to Ronald Winans God's Mercy has proven faithful.
And just like the Angel announced Jesus' resurrection into Heaven
to Mary Magdalene, so will an Angel of the Lord comfort the heart of my sister
in Christ CeCe
and the entire Winans family.
