I'm a new member here but I have been visiting this site for about a year now. Trying to decide if this is the right option for me. Nothing else has worked. Are most of you happy with your results? Any regrets? How about long term loss? Does the weight come back? I am seeing the Lord move in a way that may be leading me to this decision, but I am still unsure. Thanks for any feedback, Peggy

Hi Peggy, and bless you. The surgery has been great for me and I believe the Lord lead me to this surgery. It's been just over 2 years and it was hard in the beginning but I'm loving life as God intended. The weight can come back as years go past. Give this some deep thought and pray about it often and you'll get your answer. loving Jesus, Glenn

Peggy, I have done many things in my life "for self" , but two very important things that worked out with great rewards were....... One......accepting Christ as My Savior and allowing him to suffer in my place on Calvary, letting someone so innocent have my punishment, allowing me to have the reward, life with God eternally in heaven. (selfish, uh?) Two.......was putting my life on hold, inconveniencing my family and workplace to have the WLS. I am now 70+ pounds lighter (have about 25-30 to go), and feel awesome. I am a better Mommy and wife, have been able to serve the Lord and my fellow Christian's better since. I have the confidence to more boldly speak the Gospel and declare him Lord. And find I am not self-conscience about my appearance. Always consult the Lord, know you are in his hands, you will do what is best for you and know what God wants. Keep us up to date on your decision. Okay? Love, Sally

Sally, Thank you so much for your uplifting reply. I was so encouraged that I just had to go read your profile. Thank you for your honesty. Isn't our Savior wonderful? I have pretty much decided to have surgery so now the hard work begins, dealing with insurance, etc. But I feel the Lord is leading me this direction, so I will give it to Him and just trust. It will all work out for my good and His glory. (I love His promises). Thanks again, Peggy

Hi there Peggy!! The first thing you are doing right is asking for the Lord's guidance in this process. That's what I did and He answered me loud and clear. I pray the same for you!!! I've not had any complications, regrets, or any negativity concerning this surgery. I'm only 3 months out, so I can't answer personally about long term weight loss, or weight coming back. I can however, give you my friend's mother's experience. She has pretty much gained all the weight back....but that's because she's pretty much doing everything wrong. She munches all day long, she eats sweets, she drinks soda, drinks through a straw, drinks with her meals, and I don't think she's exercising one bit. If you do what your surgeon tells you to do and follow the strict guideline, you'll have success. I think the best thing I ever did was lean on the Lord for what His will for my life was. I was ready to accept whatever His decision was. I went through the process and knew if He didn't want me to have it, insurance wouldn't approve it. Needless to say, I was approved. Hope that helps!!!! Wishing you well on your journey!!! Keep us posted! Robin Lap RNY 2/15/05 256/201

Peggy, yes I am happy with my results. I don't have any regrets at all. I haven't had any problems with anything and honestly feel God has taken care of me. I really prayed a lot and had friends and my ladies Sunday school class pray for me too. I had such a peace with this surgery. I knew God was in it because insurance paid for everything except for the psychological eval. That is all I had to pay for out of pocket. It does get easier to eat things the farther out you are. But, I stay in the 170's and am happy. I keep a close eye on my weight and if I see myself slipping into the upper 170's, then I start going back to basics. I am so much happier and feel so much better. I have lots more energy to do just the everyday things around the house and don't feel quite so lazy. My only suggestion is just to pray and see where God leads you. I'll also pray that God leads you in the right direction and that His will be done. Take care. Shelly E. 5'10" 317/175
