Hey everyone! I am Jennifer and i am 15 years old and about 315lbs. I am trying to get the lap band. I have been to doctors at Duke hosptial in NC and they are not sure because they have never done anyone under 18 there. The doctor said i would be perfect for it because i meet all the qulifications to have it except my age. So having one doctor on my side will help. Well actullay 2 because i went to another doctor before that and he told i should get it! So thats a plus! The doctor at Duke told me that he is going to take my case to a meeting and find out if i have a chance. Please pray that they will let me have it. I know i am young but thats why i want it now so i can be a normal teenager! I hope God will allow me to have this done. I have many medical problems and my regular doctor said that if i dont lose weight i am going to get worse. I just hope God will let me get this done adn help the doctors to have wisdom about this. Please Pray for me. I am suppose to hear from the doctors hopefully sometime this month. Thanks for the prayers and if you want to chat i would love to chat with you not matter the age! God Bless!! Jennifer

Prayers your way Jennifer. I weighed 321 when I had surgery done but I was 57! I'm not sure I would have done it at 15 but I sure would have at 25! It's a big commitment for you but I believe if the docs hear your commitment to this for the rest of your life you should be successful. Are mom and dad behind you in this? I think of all the things I missed out on being obese all my life and now I am trying to make up for them. This winter I am going skiing! Ice skating...making a snow angel in the snow. Already have walked thru the Autumn leaves (one of my things to do). Life is so much more fulfilling with less on my body. I believe my heavenly Father and my Savior are very pleased with me! Keep me informed!

Hey Jennifer, Welcome to the Christianity Forum! 15 yrs. old humm I'm trying to remember what I was doing way back then. I don't know much about Weightloss Surgery and young people however, I did see the topic somewhere on ObesityHelp.com. If I come across it again I will send you the link to it. I do encourage you to continue to research on this site to get as much information as you possible can so that you and your parents will be well informed. Please keep coming back and keep us updated on your progress. Georgeann

Hey Jennifer, So nice to have you here with us. I know that kids your age can be so horribly mean. I was overweight in high school. I was only around 180 and even then, I was tormented by the "beautiful" people. I hated school and have very few good memories from my high school years. I hope people are nicer to you than I was treated. I feel for you my dear sister. I remained obese through out my adult life. My top weight was 251 and I was a size 22. I had gastric bypass on June 21 and as of 2 weeks ago I had lost 65 pounds. I'm 37 years old now. I have my 20 year class reunion one week from tonight and I am going in a size 14 dress. I am so excited to be so "small". I just pray that I will be going there and presenting Jesus and not myself for people to see. I hope that this information will encourage you. Hope to keep hearing from you. Pray daily over this decision and the Lord will show you the way. E-mail me if you need a friend to talk to who has been there. Bless you, Sherri
