I've made my mind up i know it may prolong my process  but i am filing an appeal with my insurance company calling my doctor today to get an appt set to start procedure. I know now that i dont want a lapband and my first choice would be a sleeve. I am asking for prayer during this time to stay strong during this appeal process because i know i still have to not gain weight. I feel this is the best choice for me. The insurance company states if procedure can be proven medically necessary it may be possible to get it approved.

You go girl!! The band is really horrible and I wouldn't wi**** on my worst enemy, just my opinion. Have you posted on the sleeve board? They may be able to give you hints on how to go about making it a medical neccesity. Stay strong cause I know you'll be much happier with the sleeve. Good things come to those who wait!

As I have previously posted, I know nothing about the sleeve.  My sister has the band, and has lost nothing, because she does not follow the WLS diet, since she can get away with eating anything.  She drinks sweetened bottled water, and eats desserts when given the opportunity.  Plus, she does no exercise.

No matter what surgery a person chooses, lifestyle changes are mandatory to make it a success.  Diet and exercise are musts for successful weight loss.  The surgery is but a tool to allow the weight loss to happend quickly.

Your doctor should be able to identify the comorbidities you have that make WLS a medical necessity.

Hugs,
Trish

I am getting sleeved on Monday!

I have BCBSTX and they wanted me to have 6 months of Nutrition doc, 3 Psyh visits, endoscopy, sleep study, and cardiac clearance. I have hypothyroidism (under control thank God) , anxiety because of my thyroids(not taking any meds no more), anemia, high cholesterol, HBP, asthma, and obstructive sleep apnea.
