Pentecost thoughts

I've been thinking about this since yesterday morning's worship service at my (Episcopal) church and want to share it with someone...but I'm not sure it would be welcome on any other OH forum, so I'm posting here for the first time.

Our first reading yesterday was Acts 2:1-21. My thoughts are about how that reading relates to our OH community, which sometimes seems terribly bogged down by the WLS Wars.

To recap the passage: on the day of Pentescost, the Holy Spirit appeared in the form of fiery tongues and spoke to a crowd of people from many nations. And although those people all spoke different languages, they all heard the same message about God's deeds of power. Some sneered that the others were just drunk ("filled with new wine"), but Peter told them that the people were filled with the spirit of God, not with the spirit of new wine.

When I hear all the babbling voices here on OH forums, speaking in many tongues, not understanding each other, I wish the Holy Spirit would arrive and fill all those people with unifying love instead of hatred and confusion.

Know what I mean?

Jean

Welcome Jean!!! Good to see you over here, hope you come often we can always use new input. I sure understand about the "wars" they seem so petty most of the time. It'd be great if the Holy Spirit would fill them with love except I think they have to be open to it and willing to be filled with the Spirit and well call me crazy but I kinda think they are also too petty to be open to that. We can always hope tho, huh?

Maybe they need a bolt of lightning to blast open their souls!

Hello Jean,
Thank you for joining us here.  To be honest, I do not go to the Main Forum.  I go to the Pennsylvania Forum, the Mental Health Forum, the Over Fifty Forum, for people over age 50, and the Crossing Over to Transfer Addictions Forum.  All of these have supportive people, who treat each other with respect.

If you are over 50, you might want to join us there  It is fairly active most weekdays.  I posted the link in the thread I started about that forum.

Hugs,
Trisj

I used to be quite active on the OFF forum, but I took a break from OH for a while (dealing with a health crisis,a new job, and my mother's death) and never got back there.  I need to re-prioritize my life so that I can spend more time on OFF and less time doing unimportant or meaningless stuff!
